2016 Valentine’s Weekend

February 16, 2016 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Valentine weekend is just another weekend for me. Nothing special but everyone else sees it as a special weekend because love and shiet. Whatever that is …

But I guess it’s good people see it as special else, I wouldn’t have had such a plan filled weekend.

Liliana Valentine 2016

I received this package a week or so ago from Liliana for Valentine’s day. She is always so sweet. Even when has a valentine she remembers me and my lonesome. I was super excited to get a new pencil bag. I’ve been searching for one for my art supplies. Eeeeeps.

Sunrise

Friday was finally the day I got to see the sun rise again. Going to work before 6 am every day really sucks because I miss is. I went to the doctor for the check up on my sickness and there was good and bad news. I guess we’ll have to play it by ear and see how that goes.

Jolynn's Crawfish Restaurant Houston, Texas

Then June and I went and got crawfish at Jolynn’s Crawfish Restaurant. FINALLY. Happy me. The rest of the day I went and ran errands and then gave my blog a makeover. I felt pretty accomplished.

Dad Totaled Car 2016

Saturday morning Mum bursts into my door. Dad had gotten into a car accident, hit and run, and his car has a possibility of being totaled. So we haul ass to where he is and I talked to the cop and tow guy and figure everything out. On the drive home, I call the insurance company and was lucky to finish everything in time to head to my Valentine’s plans.

Apurva Valentine 2016

I met Apurva and she surprised me with a gift. So sweet and so cute!

Cloud 9 Foot Spa

She then drove us to our 80 minutes stone massage at Cloud 9 Spa. It’s my first stone massage and is now my favourite type of massage which is bad because they are expensive. (Thank goodness for Groupons!) For the first time, I had to tell the guy to ease up because he was killing me. But overall, he got my issues and now I feel much better.

Myth Kafe Houston, Texas

Afterward, we had reservations at Helen Greek Food and Wine but after circling around looking for parking, we gave up and ended up at Myth Kafe. Best stumble upon ever. And so close to Sissy’s that it can be my backup place if I ever end up out here wanting food.

We wanted dessert but didn’t want to travel too far. Valentine’s weekend is one of the worst times to go out. Bleugh. So we went to Tout Suite for desserts. I bought four heart macarons to take to Mallory’s.

Apurva and I actually had the whole day planned out to do things but she had to go home at a certain time to celebrate her brother’s birthday and it worked out to where I had other plans. She dropped me off at my car and I headed home to drop off my leftovers. Said hello to Rizzo because duh. Then headed over to Mallory’s.

Alamo Drafthouse Zoolander 2

Mallory, John, Trey, and I headed over to Alamo Drafthouse to watch Zoolander 2. It’s so stupid. SO FREAKING STUPID. That it was funny. And because of the good company, it was even funnier. Mallory and I ordered a pitcher of sangria and she said it wasn’t a lot. And well, it was a lot. I think I’m a lightweight now. Thankful Trey helped us drink some.

Puzzle Mallory Trey

After the movie, I was going to head home, but the boys were going to cook dinner and Mallory asked me to stay. I declined dinner because I was still full from Myth Kafe. While the boys were cooking, Mallory and I talked and worked on the puzzle. John cooked his foods and ate in front of the telly. Mallory ate at the table, and Trey was still cooking his foods. He would come over every few minutes to help us with the puzzle and even ate and did the puzzle with us at the same time. Lots of laughter, weird noises, and singing to music and the puzzle was complete. We headed to the living room and all sat with John to watch telly then I headed home.

Naven Necklace

My favourite gift arrived in the mail. Necklace with my uncle’s initial and emerald jewel for the month of his birth. The star ring with his initial is too big for my fingers now and it always got caught in my clothing and I told this person before and that person went and got me this and it is now my favourite new necklace/piece of jewelry ever. Thanks, love!

Mellie Dee Valentine's Day

Sunday, we headed to Grandma’s for more Chinese New Year festivities. Got our red envelopes and had a few hours of chit chat with them. Picture of my selfie because I really liked my jewelry that day.

Thai Siam Restaurant Houston, Texas

Then we left and headed to Thai Siam for lunch. Their spice level is crazy on point. Real Thai way. And I found a picture of my look-a-like. She works for some blood donor clinic or something. haha

Fresh Boba Sugar Land Texas

After eating, we went and got boba at Fresh Boba and headed back home. I ran more errands then drove and met up with Michelle.

Deadpool Movie Sugar Land

We met up with Amanda to watch Deadpool. The second time around you catch even more of the jokes you missed. Who wants to watch it a third time with me? haha

Definitely, one of the best weekends I’ve had this year so far and I cannot wait for more.

Is It The Weekend Yet?

February 15, 2016 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Hi, there!

If you jump over, you’ll see the blog got a makeover Friday. Not 100% sure how I like it and might rework the code to make it more my own (fonts and colors and such) but it shall do for now. I freaked out at around 12 am because it had an error message and it wouldn’t let me navigate anywhere but to the error page. Luckily I figured out the back end and re-coded the error and viola … so proud of myself. I miss the stress that comes from coding errors.

I had one of the best Valentine’s weekend ever. Massages, eating at new places, movies, being driven places, and the such. More on that sometime this week. But I would say, I watched Deadpool for the second time in a week. Because it was that great. So … seriously, get off your butt and watch it.

My brother totaled his car a few weeks ago and this weekend my dad totaled his. Oy vey. Luckily everyone is okay. I’m sad to see the Camry go. Friends, dance and sport practices, tournaments, boyfriends, hospital visits, etc. … so many college memories were in that car. Bye, bye Camry.

Maybe I’ll take this Friday off. This weekend was definitely draining … but in a good way.

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Music | Wasn’t Expecting That by Jamie Lawson

February 13, 2016 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Trey just showed me this song tonight and I realized I haven’t posted today so I thought I’d stop what we’re doing and share. It’s a sad song, but a sweet, sad song. I’m usually a hater of songs that repeat the same lines over and over again but I ended up loving it. “I wasn’t expecting that …” Get it? haha

Hope you’re all having a great Valentine’s weekend. 🙂

Deadpool Movie

February 12, 2016 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

You know those crazy people that go and stand in line opening night and wait for a few hours before they’re seated so they can pick the “best seat” in the theater? Yeah, I’m not one of those people. I don’t really do those crazy opening nights type of deals. I usually wait until the theater is about to take it off the big screen or until it comes out on DVD or something because crowds.

But it was different this time around because Deadpool. I’ve been waiting for this movie since before they even talked about making a movie. And if you don’t know who Deadpool is, I don’t know if we can be friends anymore.

People ask me who he is. Apparently, he’s not very well known. Then they ask why he’s my favourite. Because I suck at video games but love playing, when games had him in it, I would choose him. He could heal on his own so I wouldn’t die as fast. And because of that I Googled him and found out he’s a freaking badass but a good person and super romantic at heart. But overall, I fell in love with his humor and sarcasm. And ever since then I was in love … with a comic book character.

Deadpool Movie Opening

Back in the beginning of January, there was a Groupon for Alamo Drafthouse and saw I could reserve my seats for Deadpool. I was surprised to find that though the movie doesn’t come out until midnight on the 12th, they were having some earlier showings on the 11th. Um … hello, duh. And since then, I’ve been patiently counting down the days.

People asked why I’d pick row 1 thinking it’s right at the front … to clear that up, it’s actually like the third from the back. Best seats ever, k? Cool.

Yesterday we finally made our way to the theater and I don’t think anyone would believe me if I told them I had chills from all the excitement that I couldn’t hold in especially because …

Deadpool Movie Opening Cosplay

… when we arrived, we saw there were people dressed up as Deadpool and my heart leaped. How lame is that?

Like “Hello, Melissa … Deadpool is only fictional.”

Like “Duh, I know.”

So if you wanna get with me, I guess all you have to do is dress up like Deadpool and talk and do silly, stupid, crazy things and I’ll probably fall madly in love with you.

At first I thought these people just really love Deadpool but soon realized, Alamo Drafthouse hired them to pass out masks where on the back of it was a promotion for chimichangas, because what else!

Deadpool Movie Opening Mellie Dee

Best. Movie. Ever.

But I’m biased. Obviously. And I’m certain if you don’t know anything about him and watched the movie, you’d agree. You’ll be biased like me.

I don’t think I’m ruining anything by telling you to stay until after the credits.

Gahhhh … I promise you’ll be patiently waiting for the next one just like me.

Happy Hump Day!

February 10, 2016 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Took half a day off yesterday due to unbearable pains and I didn’t worry about missing meetings or feeling guilty for skipping out on lunch with Erin. I made sure to let them know though so they rescheduled the meeting and Erin texted me to make sure I was okay a few times throughout the rest of the day. It felt good not worrying all the time how people feel when you’re not okay. Step one of being less of a people pleaser by taking care of me, myself, and I. Check.

Madison is getting induced tomorrow which means hanging out with Mallory is a no go this week. But that means a little girl or little boy will be born soon! I can’t wait to meet him/her. I am patiently awaiting Mallory’s text to let me know. Eeeeep!

Deadpool tomorrow. TO-freaking-MORROW. I hope I don’t get disappointed since I’ve been looking forward to this movie since before they were making the movie. There’s going to be a freaking drink in my hand while watching because that’s what Wade Wilson would do. Duh.

Weekend plans are on lock down for the most part. Appointments and reservations and that type of deal and I’m a little nervous. I’m a homebody so I don’t go out and really meet anyone. Doing too much without any breaks for me to recharge makes for a cranky me. I need downtime in between long hours spent with people to recharge so I was surprised I agreed to everything. We’ll see how that goes.

Hopefully I’ll have time to finally un-box my Meme Box from December that Sissy and BIL got me and my Stitch Fix that just came in yesterday. I’ll let y’all know if there’s anything worth mentioning.

Stay Positive and Think Good Thoughts! 🙂
