Pokemon, Gotta Catch Them All!

July 22, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Breakfast at Hotel

I had one of the best sleeps in forever. We had a king bed and pretty much stayed on our own sides. When we woke up we got ready and headed to the complimentary breakfast.

Automatic Pancake Maker

They even had a fancy automatic pancake maker. I didn’t care for pancakes but I also couldn’t not press the button and watch them perfectly fall out.

2018 | 203/365 | Pokemon App

[2018] 203/365: Pokemon Master at a Gym

After we ate, we headed to the downtown shops hoping they we’re opened. We were there around nine in the morning so we kind of knew it was a long shot. We still parked the car and walked around and soon we we’re both catching Pokemons. I have recently redownloaded the app since I work downtown where there are more Pokemons. And since we were in downtown Brenham it was perfect. We took a long time catching them and I even battled for the first time with great instructions from Liliana.

Brenham Downtown Shopping

By that time, some of the shops were opening and we got to buy little things. I was in love this little shop! It’s been a long time since I’ve gone to a bookstore and it was wonderful to go with someone who loves books just as much as I do.

Truth BBQ | Brenham, Texas

We were starving soon and remembered about Truth BBQ so we headed there hoping they didn’t sell out. She’s not a super huge meat lover and I’m not a super big fan of smoked bbq meats but with five stars we had to go! We both agreed the TaterTot Casserole was the best and their brisket isn’t far behind. I wished Scruffy was with me because there was too much meat. That’s what happens when I want to try everything.

Salmon Stuffed with Crab and Pilaf

Lily took me home and we hugged our goodbyes. I’ve been lazy around the house and just now finished my new favourite meal, Salmon stuffed with Crab with Pilaf, which is easy and delicious. I ate that with a side of Chinese soap operas.

I have been extremely lucky to have such a relaxing weekend where we did SO much stuff together and created new memories. Something as easy as walking around little shops was therapeutic for me. I cannot wait for our next adventure and I hope it’ll take us sooner than later for the next one.

Now it’s time for bed. Night, world!

2018 Scruffy’s Birthday

June 2, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Breakfast at the Beach House

After eating breakfast, the birthday boy opened all his presents.

Galveston Beaches

We then got ready and headed to the beach for a couple of hours before heading back to the beach house to clean up.

2018 | 153/365 | Scruffy's Birthday

[2018] 153/365: Happy Birthday, Scruffy!

Scruffy and I all clean and ready to head to The Strand where there are shops and restaurants and where you can drink on the streets.

Lapalapa | Galveston, Texas | Peach Bellini

I opted for a Peach Bellini from Lapalapa. I chugged it fast because the next place we wanted to go to doesn’t let outside drinks.

Murphy's Irish Pub | Galveston, Texas | Cheese Pizza

When we got to Murphy’s Irish Pub Jamie ordered a cheese pizza and Scruffy ordered a beer and a couple Irish Car Bombs for him and Rami.

Chugging the Bellini wasn’t a smart idea because I started to feel sick. Thank goodness for that tiny slice of pizza that made me feel better. I am bold enough to say that this is one of the best pizzas I’ve had.

Black Pearl Oyster Bar & Grill | Galveston, Texas

Soon later we all headed to the Black Pearl for Scruffy’s birthday dinner.

Black Pearl Oyster Bar & Grill | Galveston, Texas | Food

This is all the different foods I tried. We ordered way too much and am we packed the leftovers to go. This place isn’t bad. The gumbo is one of the best I’ve had. They give so much seafood! The etouffee could have been better. I would come back for the gumbo and oysters!

Now we are heading back to the beach house. I cannot wait to change out of these clothes and relax with a board game.

Galveston Beach

June 1, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Pleasure Pier | Galveston, Texas

The day started with me eating leftover KFC while Scruffy and his parents cooked themselves breakfast. As I was getting ready they got pulled into the BP oil spill movie. It was so sad watching it since it was an incident that never should have happened.

When that ended, his parents went to the beach and Scruffy and I headed to the oil rig for a tour. As we were driving we realized just hot and humid it was and decided to do something else instead since the rig was going to be all outside. We passed by Pleasure Pier, somewhere I always wanted to do but the dang weather wasn’t cooperate.

Vanilla Bean Frap | Starbucks

We decided to pick up some things from Kroger and I picked up a vanilla bean frappacino to curb the dizziness I was getting from the heat.

Mario's Pizza | Galveston, Texas

We headed back to the house, ordered pickup pizza from Mario’s Pizza because Papa John’s said we were too far for delivery. Sigh …

Mario's Pizza | Galveston, Texas | Pepperoni and Mushroom

Scruffy picked it up while I set up the Castle of Burgundy game. This pizza was actually decent. The only complaint we had was that they folded our pizza because it didn’t fit the box which in return ruined those two slices since the toppings slid right off. But no big deal.

2018 | 152/365 | Galveston Beaches

[2018] 152/365: Galveston Beach

We only got through the first phase of five of the game before Rami, Caitlin, and Peyton came walking through the door. We packed up the game and played cards instead before heading to the beach.

Bluewater Grill & Ignoble Pizzeria | Galveston, Texas

It didn’t take long until we went back to the beach house and ordered dinner from Bluewater Grill & Ignoble Pizzeria. The food wasnt the best. They tasted like store bought everything.

Onething that was super disappointing was that they said their fries are different. When we opened the box expecting amazingness we saw dry, hard fries instead. This is definitely not a place we suggest.

I’m not too certain what the plans are now but I’m ready to fall straight to sleep it I could.

Family Day in Waco, Texas

Uber Eats Breakfast Tacos

Sissy and I ordered breakfast tacos through Uber Eats while everyone ate kolaches Mum brought up from Houston.

George's Restaurant and Catering | Waco, Texas

After Emmy had her socializing class, we all headed to Waco. We had plans to check out Magnolia Table but due to the long wait, we headed to George’s Restaurant & Catering instead.

George's Restaurant and Catering | Waco, Texas | Food

Dad and I shared our foods while Sissy and I shared our drink. The food wasn’t bad. I would opt out of getting the corn though. That was our least favourite.

Dr Pepper Museum | Waco, Texas

We then headed to the Dr Pepper Museum since Mum is their “biggest fan”. She even ordered it with her lunch, per usual. The museum, though small, was a bit fun. I liked that they had some interactive things for the viewers to take a part of.

Dr Pepper Museum | Waco, Texas | Complimentary Drink

We all got complimentary drinks. I went with the Sunkist. I drank a couple sips before Mum downed the rest.

Legends Thai Cuisine & Kung Fu Tea | Plano, Texas

We were going to stop by somewhere else too but decided to head back to Dallas. Sissy, SIL, and I played with Emmy while Brudda, Mum, and Dad went to Walmart and then picked up foods from Kung Fu Tea and Legends Thai Cuisine. This is one of the best Thai places I’ve had in America. It’s spicy and they give you so much for your buck!

2018 | 146/365 | Rockets vs Warriors | Game 6

[2018] 146/365: Game 6 Rockets vs Warriors

Though I’m extremely happy we had an amazing day with the family, my happiest was when I realized I finally get to watch the Rockets game. I haven’t been able to see any since I don’t have cable. Sadly, they are losing right now. Come on, Rockets, push on through!! Sigh …

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | Part VII

April 19, 2018 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

We were able to sleep in again today since it was supposed to be a pretty chill day. We went to Snooze an AM Eatery for breakfast. This place has been on my list for quite some time so I was happy to try it. Sadly, it didn’t meet my expectations.

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | Cockrell Butterfly Center | Houston, Texas

We went to pick up Sissy where Wilson and Mei Mei were able to check out their place. Soon after, we headed to The Houston Museum of Natural Science where the Cockrell Butterfly Center was located.

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | Cockrell Butterfly Center | Houston, Texas | Butterfly

I was so happy to be able to put my photography skills to work. Look at my awesome shots! They came out better than I thought. This is without editing!! A few landed on us and we’d squeal with happiness.

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | Liberty Kitchen | Houston, Texas

We then headed to lunch at Liberty Kitchen.

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | Liberty Kitchen | Houston, Texas | Food

This was the best seafood place I’ve been to in a long while. Everything (except the chicken wings) were delicious! And they were nice enough to notice we were new and gave us two dishes for free, one which we knew costs at least $20+ bucks! That’s how you gain a loyal customer. Mum already wants to come back!

2018 | 109/365 | 2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | We Love Houston Sign

[2018] 109/365: We Heart Houston

We stopped by Jacky’s work where he has a downtown view. Since I used to work in the building next to his, it wasn’t anything special for me but was nice to still go up. June met us up there and we headed towards 8th Wonder Brewery where this I LOVE HOUSTON sign is located right outside. We took some quick shots before heading in.

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | 8th Wonder Brewery | Houston, Texas | Flight of Beers

Since we were running a bit late, BIL and Scruffy were already there drinking. We ordered a few beers and even got a flight! How cute! We all had some good laughs and sweet conversations sitting in the wonderful weather.

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | 8th Wonder Brewery | Houston, Texas | Beatles Statue

For some reason, no one knew why the Beatles statues were there but were thankful we had another picture taking opportunity.

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | Xochi | Houston, Texas

After some drinking, we all headed to Xochi.

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | Xochi | Houston, Texas | Entrees and Desserts

We ordered so much food and desserts. I’m not truly full but was happy to be able to get a little bit of everything since we did a family type meal. Overall it was a great experience but I’m not sure if I’ll come back here since the prices are crazy.

Tomorrow is Wilson and Mei Mei’s last day here. I’m hoping I can go and hang out with them before their flight at night. Until then, it’s sleepy time for me and shower in the morning because I cannot function right now. Bye!
