Eli Young Band, Double Date, and Seafood Boil

April 10, 2022 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Gringo's | Eli Young Band at Wildcatter's | Mallory, Leah & Wes

April 1st

Mallory and Leah had plans to see Eli Young Band and ended up with free tickets and invited me to join. We met up with Leah and Wes at Gringos for dinner before heading to Wildcatters. He played a lot of newer songs but us oldies wanted the .. oldies. It was still fun though and loved the open space concert location.

Frankenstein and I had a video chat afterwards to pin down transportation for our upcoming trip. I cannot wait for our adventure!

Double Date | Frankenstein, Sebastian, & Paige | Harold's & Jeni's | Houston, Texas

April 2nd

Frankenstein and I had a double date with Sebastian and Paige. Our significant others meeting for the first time! We met at Harold’s for dinner and nonstop conversation. The food is as I remember from Houston Restaurant Week. It’s okay but not good for the cost. We headed to Jeni’s for ice cream afterwards and when I walked in, I almost choked on the sweetness. The ice cream was very delicious though and I loved that they give you a tiny wedge of waffle cone.

It’s crazy how Sebastian and I were only acquaintances in high school and only saw each other years and years later on a mutual friend’s television show. Now we are friends meeting each other’s people.

Free Ice Cream at Work, Homemade Enchilada Bowls, Shogun, Local Table

April 5th

I finally went back to work! And they were giving out free ice creams. Two days a week isn’t too bad. People are draining though. I haven’t napped since I worked from home on weekdays but I definitely did the two days I worked in the office. Sigh. My eczema got worse too but not 100% sure if it’s due to that. But I’ll do anything to blame being back.

I also made the laziest enchiladas ever. You can’t really call it that so I’ll call them enchilada bowls. I also had good eats from Shogun and Local Table. Not pictured: Thaicoon.

Chelsea & Mellie Dee | Mike's Seafood | Houston, Texas

April 8th

I finally had lunch with Chelsea! We’ve been wanting to do a one on one in so long but life keeps hitting us. It was amazing seeing her and catching up from family, friends and work.

We met at Mike’s Seafood on Hwy 6 and each got Platter A (snowcrab, shrimp, crawfish, mussels, potato’s, corn). The flavour was good but Yummy still wins out. But there’s a sauce served here called Mike’s sauce that won out. That paired with Yummy Seafood will definitely hit the spot.

I ordered a dozen oysters and she ordered boudin balls. The oysters were mostly huge. There were a few tiny ones which was a bummer. She was not a fan of her boudin balls and didn’t even eat them.

Mellie Dee Makeup Palette Testing

I bought new makeup to play with since the ones I had were old and needed replacing. I am also continually on a hunt to find makeup that is easy to travel with where it isn’t super bulky. I think I’ve found some winners! It didn’t come out horrible but it still needs help. Is anyone a pro? Help?

Rizzo Walks | Frankenstein & Artemis

I’ve been taking Rizzo on walks and a new section of the park opened up. It’s my new favourite way since there’s way less foot traffic so I get more peace. Rizzo is still a trooper even with the giant nose bump.

Frankenstein and Artemis made it in here because I missed their faces and got this cute shot back. Cannot wait to see them this weekend!

Brad Paisley at the Houston Rodeo

March 29, 2022 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Beth's Birthday | Mallory & Mellie Dee | Shogun | Katy, Texas

March 16th

We celebrated Beth’s birthday by going to Shogun for a show and dinner. Look at that crazy fire!

The food was SO good. But the service wasn’t great which is understandable with the shortage. I ordered a drink but only Mallory got hers. And it took forever for them to get us our bill. Overall, the experience was a good one. We even learned that in Chicago, fried rice doesn’t have corns or peas?

Houston Rodeo | Brad Paisley | Frankenstein, Mellie Dee, Mallory, John

March 19th

I finally got to see Brad Paisley live! And he played some of my favourite songs! It was a great night to remember and an even funnier moment where we got tickets standing tickets. Our view wasn’t THAT horrible, but we wouldn’t have made it or enjoyed the concert as much as we did if Mallory and John didn’t have to leave early and gave us their amazing seats.

We played a few games, won some stuffed animals and feasted on turkey leg, sausage, fried twinkie, fried cheesecake, fried snickers, twisted potato thing, chicken tenders kids meal, and pulled pork sundae (mashed potatoes).

We went on the last weekend of rodeo (big mistake) so the lines were busier than usual and felt like packed sardines walking around. We even lost cell service in certain spots because of the amount of people in one area. We still had fun though and am so thankful Frankenstein was willing to experience it with me.

Good Eats | Rizzo

I’ve been cooking at lot more. Getting back in the swing of things when it comes to meal prepping since I really do need to go back into the office at least once a week. I’ve been able to skirt around it since it’s not required.

I finally made it out to Angry Crab! Went to lunch one day with Rose and Kelly and it was DANG good. We all agree we needed to come back.

Rizzo’s just chilling in his blankets and sitting outside with me while I enjoy the nice weather. I am not ready for the heat.

Crochet Project | Rizzo | Zodiac Mountain Puzzle, Farmers Market Puzzle, Texas Puzzle, Garage Sale Puzzle

I’ve finished 4 puzzles this time around. Zodiac mountain, farmers market, Texas, and garage sale. I’ve also started on a bitty crochet project. I was in a meeting crocheting away and was wondering why my yarn wasn’t turning. This little booger was laying on it. Glad to know since what I’m crocheting will most likely be his to claw and lay on since it’s a practice project with this type of yarn. It’s SO soft!

2020 | Week 38 of Quarantine | Music | The 1 by Taylor Swift

2020 | Week 38 of Quarantine | Professional Scrum Management Training

I finally took a training class. This one was to become a Professional Scrum Master. I have two chances to take the test to be certified. Sadly, I don’t think I’m ready even after the class. I have to study a bit more first. Definitely super engaging using Mural and find that it was very helpful.

2020 | Week 38 of Quarantine | Friends Advent Calendar

I finally own an advent calendar. I’ve been wanting one since I was a kid but not one with chocolates. Luckily, Friends came out with one and I snagged one when it was super cheap. Will report back after 25 days!

2020 | Week 38 of Quarantine | Heights Bier Garten | Houston, Texas | Erin, John, Christopher

On Thursday, after work, I met up with Erin, John, and Christopher at Heights Bier Garten. I had told them I’d only come out if it was outside and they stuck by it. We froze our butts off for over 4 hours. Erin and John are finally back from Japan and we met up and caught up. She got me candies and a Hello Kitty bag. It’s crazy how it’s been over a year since they left for Japan and 9 months since I’ve seen Christopher.

I finally got to drink Saloon Door PB Chocolate beer! Still one of the best I’ve ever had.

2020 | Week 38 of Quarantine | Blood Donation with Mallory

Friday, Mallory and I met at the Donor Center and made our usually blood donation. Mallory came half an hour later than me and still finished before I did, sigh.

2020 | Week 38 of Quarantine | Mallory's Hamburger Helper & Beth's Baby Shower Favours

I went over to her house afterward to put together party favours for Beth’s baby shower and chomped down on some yummy cheesy goodness. I’ve been craving mac and cheese type foods and this hit the spot.

2020 | Week 38 of Quarantine | Starbucks, Hot Pot, Steak

Steaks and sweet potatoes, Starbucks drinks, and hot pot hit all the right spots. The cold makes me a little lazy to workout. June’s been walking earlier and I’m usually still working so I’ve pushed myself to complete workouts from the telly since it’s pitch black out when I am able to workout.

2020 | Week 38 of Quarantine | Spotify Unwrapped

Another amazing year with Spotify. Taylor Swift is still my number 1 and as it says, her “The 1” is what got me through 2020. So here goes:

And if you wanted me, you really should’ve showed
And if you never bleed, you’re never gonna grow
And it’s alright now

…

I have this dream you’re doing cool shit
Having adventures on your own
You meet some woman on the internet and take her home

…

I persist and resist the temptation to ask you
If one thing had been different
Would everything be different today?

We were something, don’t you think so?
Rosé flowing with your chosen family
And it would’ve been sweet
If it could’ve been me
In my defense, I have none
For digging up the grave another time
But it would’ve been fun
If you would’ve been the one

Music | Save Myself by Ed Sheeran

December 29, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

It’s crazy how much a year can change a person. 2018 was pretty rough. I wasn’t sure why I had such dark thoughts. I didn’t know what I was going through other than feeling as if I was floating through the days and the days started to blur together. I tried cutting myself off from everyone at the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019 to stop hurting those around me. For those that wouldn’t let me, I acted like I was okay until I couldn’t anymore. It was selfish and I’m sorry.

I had all of 2019 to reflect on what went wrong; I put myself first and promised to focus on myself. My goals and dreams have changed and although they might still never come true, I’m learning to be okay with it.

Before the year closes, I want to thank those for all the silent phone calls and car rides, conversations, and hangouts, for sticking by me when I said I just needed time and space and giving it to me, yet being there when I reached out, for believing in me when I stopped believing in myself, for standing by me as I found myself again, as I made myself mentally healthier. Thank you.

Mahal kita.

I gave all my oxygen to people that could breathe
I gave away my money and now we don’t even speak
I drove miles and miles, but would you do the same for me?
Oh, honestly?

…

I gave you all my energy and I took away your pain
‘Cause human beings are destined to radiate or drain
What line do we stand upon ’cause from here looks the same?
And only scars remain

…

Life can get you down so I just numb the way it feels
I drown it with a drink and out-of-date prescription pills
And all the ones that love me they just left me on the shelf
No farewell
So before I save someone else, I’ve got to save myself
And before I blame someone else, I’ve got to save myself
And before I love someone else, I’ve got to love myself

Music | Her World or Mine by Michael Ray

December 23, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

For a while we had forever in our hands
That’s why one of us can’t understand

How one of us moved on, one of us got stuck
One of us is drinkin’ just for fun, one of us drinkin’ to get drunk
One of us sleeps good, one of us hates to face the night
Just depends if you’re talkin’ about her world or mine

Yeah that’s the difference between her world or mine
