Joss & Main

November 3, 2011 by Mellie Dee 1 Comment

Mmm … funny story.

Yesterday, I was looking at my blog stats and was wondering what the heck was going on because my views shot up pretty much 99% on Friday, October 28th.

I pretty much blew it off as spam.

I then receive a comment this morning from Jenny from Peanut Butter & Jenny.

She was telling me I won the Joss & Main giveaway a few days ago and I never answered.

She waited, and waited for this doofus to answer and instead of giving it away to someone else, she contacted me.

Thank you so much Jenny!! You are a sweetheart.

After shooting her an e-mail, I put two-to-two together and realized I received the crazy views because of her linking to my blog for winning.

There’s so much goodies! I kind of want these two. hehe

If you want to join Jenny and I, shopping at Joss & Main, follow this link. I’m inviting you to join the fun! Smile

My Halloweekend = Simple

November 1, 2011 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

Oh Hello November. I didn’t see you there.

I took zero pictures from Halloweekend. Well I took some food ones on my phone but am not quite sure how to take them off yet so those will have to wait.

I had a good weekend though. I got to hang out with the brother. Brother’s girlfriend, Tammy. Tammy’s sister, Jenny (aka roomie). Jenny’s then boyfriend, Richard. Richard’s brother, Peter. Peter’s girlfriend, Susan. Susan’s sister, Michelle. And three of their friends: Wilson P., Steven, and Long.

We all stayed at Tammy’s apartment in Austin. We went to sixth street. It wasn’t as packed as 3 years ago though so it was good.

We even ate a bratwurst from one of the street vendors! Mmmm … I wouldn’t pay $5 for one again though.

I was suppose to be a fallen angel (made my own tutu) but then decided against it. I’ve never really dressed up for Halloween so my motto is go small. haha So I resulted in being a football player with whatever I already had. But when I got there, Michelle sucked me into being a mouse with her mouse ears so mouse it was.

It was great seeing everyone. They’re all from Dallas … except for my brother and me. But my brother is there for school and most likely will stay there for life.

I think that about sums up my Halloweekend. I’ve been reading and looking at everyone’s Hallweekend and theirs seem so much better than mine!

Glad y’all had a good one!

If I ever figure out how to get some pictures from this weekend, I’ll post it up. Smile

Hell Week Is Over

October 21, 2011 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

… hopefully.

This week alone …

2 Projects turned in.

All 30 pages of me and my partner’s paper was put together at 4am this morning. I was so happy when we handed it into my professor’s hand at 3pm.

Pure bliss.

2 Football games played.

Had one tonight, but we lost by a touchdown. Semi-finals are over. We didn’t make it into the championship round.

Bummed?

Yeah I am. I’m not going to lie. We were so close.

5 FTK Meetings … so far.

And work piles up during those meetings. I have another one today (Friday) from 3-5pm. Hope that goes well and not much work gets handed to me!

1 Finance Lab homework due.

I made a stupid 95 because I couldn’t get one of the answers correct. That’s just straight poop.

4 classes I went to out of 8 classes … so far.

Yep. I’m a terrible student. I had to finish my paper so I had to skip class! But I have a lab tomorrow so I will for sure go to that. That makes it, 5 classes out of 9. That sounds so much better … maybe?

Okay. Time for bed. It’s so early!!Open-mouthed smile

Ropes Course

October 14, 2011 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Today was a different day.

I woke up at 6am. Showered. And went to pick up one of my buddies by 6:50am.

Then we headed to Ye Kendall Inn in Boerne, TX.

It was a 30 minute drive from where we lived.

FTK Overalls and the Leadership Challenge class had a Ropes Course with some high schoolers that had Leadership class at their school there.

Yep. I skipped class. But it was excused!!

It was fun. We went through a lot of obstacles and learned a lot of stuff about one another from 8am –4pm.

One of the obstacles was being harnessed and having to climb a ladder onto a pole and jump to catch the acrobatic thing. I didn’t do this.

Another was having a high wall and having a group of people help each other get over. It was a daunting task. I did this and I almost had a heart attack. Definitely don’t have the upper strength I used to have.

Needless to say, I’m super red and dark from the stupid sun and am sore everywhere. But I don’t mind. I learned a lot!

That we can have fun and get to know each other and make friends and STILL work together and finish our tasks!

There was once when someone asked the group who brings the fun and some of the high schoolers pointed at me.

See. I’m cool!

Would You Rather Be A Mermaid Or A Whale?

October 7, 2011 by Mellie Dee 9 Comments

This has been circling Facebook and I’m not sure if everyone’s seen it. I think it’s a pretty great read.

A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and beautiful woman. The caption was “This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?”

The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way:

“Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their children with great tenderness.
They entertain like crazy with dolphins and eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia, the Barents Sea or the coral reefs of Polynesia.
They sing incredibly well and sometimes even are on cds. They are impressive and dearly loved animals, which everyone defend and admires.

Mermaids do not exist.

But if they existed, they would line up to see a psychologist because of a problem of split personality: woman or fish?
They would have no sex life and could not bear children.
Yes, they would be lovely, but lonely and sad.
And, who wants a girl that smells like fish by his side?

Without a doubt, I’d rather be a whale.

At a time when the media tells us that only thin is beautiful, I prefer to eat ice cream with my kids, to have dinner with my husband, to eat and drink and have fun with my friends.

We women, we gain weight because we accumulate so much wisdom and knowledge that there isn’t enough space in our heads, and it spreads all over our bodies.
We are not fat, we are greatly cultivated.
Every time I see my curves in the mirror, I tell myself: “How amazing am I ?! ”
