Alyssa & Greg’s Wedding

Before heading to my duties, I stopped by Starbucks and bought my first ever Iced Caramel Macchiato! I wish it was upside down though cuz it was hard to get that caramel mixed evenly. I wonder if they have that …

Still can’t get over my nails. She picked such pretty colors. They’re actually colors I would never wear which surprisingly looked good on me. Never judge until you try was a definite duh here.

Ain’t she gorgeous? Because she is.

Pretty corsage with the gift Alyssa gave me around my wrist.

Getting married and all that jazz. Ahh, love her dress.

My seat with my Shiner and Alyssa & Greg’s signature cocktail drink. Candles are so romantic!

Everything was so delicious. And I grabbed a cannoli from the dessert table but didn’t take a picture. It was GOOD.

Jenny was my date but she left early. Apparently she had a headache. Oh well, I still had fun. At least she got to see how beautiful my friend was walking down the aisle and her first dance. Smile

The speeches were funny and heartfelt. I won’t lie, I got teary eyed A LOT throughout the day. We had lots of fun dancing and laughter like always. I had a really fun night.

I bumped into a couple old high school friends. One of which was Price! He was actually assigned to sit at my table! I hadn’t seen him since he graduated from high school. Actually there was probably one time we saw each other at an Orchestra Concert after we were both in college. Anyway, it was great catching up with him and knowing he’s doing so well. His sister, Maggie, was there too and she’s grown so much. So beautiful. And she seems to be doing well in college and have a boyfriend and everything. Happy people makes me happy especially when I know them.

Seriously, these pictures don’t do the wedding justice especially since I took pretty much NO pictures. It was gorgeous and Alyssa is a definite art and crafter … that’s a word right? Their photographer is by Thomas and Penelope Photography. You can see some of their pictures here:

Simple Things That Make Me Happy

August 12, 2012 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

Sorry if you thought I was doing a giveaway. I just wanted to talk about giveaways.

Forgive me?

I’ve gone through a lot of my Google Reader. The ones that I read always haven’t been touched. Ironic, huh? Because those I read in depth and comment most of the times.

I realized I missed A LOT of giveaways. Is the beginning of August the giving month? I am now depressed that I’ve missed out on some great ones. But then again there’s one like the IPad that I didn’t enter in because I don’t feel the need to enter. I rather someone else that really wants it, wins it! So I’ve entered in none so far.

It’s always great to see old friends, now acquaintances, doing well.

One of my old high school buddies just signed with the Royals a few days ago in the MiLB. For those that don’t know, that’s the Kansas City’s Burlington Royals in Minor League Baseball. Cool, huh?

I like hearing good news and I’m so happy for him. He’s grown so much. One day he’s going to get there and I’ll be able to point at the telly and say, “I knew him in high school!” I’m pretty sure I have a few pictures with us in it from those disposable camera days and his autograph in my yearbook.

I am super excited for Sissy and Brett! We’ve been talking about dresses, venues, music, and other happy stuff. They want it simple with lots of dancing.

I wish I was a Wedding Planner … or better yet Party Planner. Seems like SO much fun. Lots of organizing and all that jazz!

Oh and lately I’ve been remodeling some things in the house. Like my bedroom. My bedroom kind of looks like an office now and I joke, “Come into my office!” when Mum walked into my room today and we talked about changing some things up in the master bedroom. Hope Dad doesn’t mind the changes that will be made soon!

I’ve been foam rolling my back whenever it aches a bit. Or wherever else when I watch telly.

It’s really been helping me. Especially with those long hours at the desk in front of the computer.

Speaking of … I’ve been watching some POP Pilates videos and I think I’ll start those first and see where they’ll take me. They aren’t too long so it seems will fit in my work schedule perfectly. Fingers crossed.

If you know any POP Pilates workouts, let me know! Smile

Happy Sunday!

Survived My First Week!

August 10, 2012 by Mellie Dee 4 Comments

First things first … I am WAY behind on my Google Reader. But TRUST … I will get through it!

Fingers crossed … hopefully this weekend.

It’s been a fun but tiring first week and now it’s the rest of my life. I’m not complaining. I have a job, food, and shelter.

And maybe I’ll still have my friends. I’ve been too busy to hang out with anyone.

Hopefully that’ll change once I get use to this schedule.

What I snack on the most when I get hungry – ALMONDS!

IMG_20120809_132049

One of my favoritest (that’s a word … don’t question me) things I miss about school – new supplies!
Oh, did I mention they are free! And I picked them out from this BIG BIG Staples Catalogue! Weeee! Smile

So since I made it to one whole week. I celebrated today.

2012-08-10 08.12.47

My co-worker, Tony C., and I went and bought breakfast at our work’s Café instead of making my own breakfast at home.

2012-08-10 11.38.41

Then for lunch I went with Rose to Subway.
It was nice to catch up with her after not seeing her for so, so long.
We laughed, joked, and all that fun stuff.

Oh, did I mention on Friday’s I get to leave an hour early. Win!

So I went shopping!

When I got home, Mum, June, and I went to a Mexican Restaurant down the street for dinner.
(No picture!)
And we talked and joked and all that fun stuff.

Hope y’all had a good week as well.
Lack of postings will occur until I get use to this schedule.
Bare with me!
I am at the moment trying to put together a workout plan and I am PUMPED!

Till next time,
Peace & Love Y’all!

Work = Lazy Days

August 7, 2012 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

Work is getting a little … tiring. I guess because I’m starting up with the schedule of lesser sleep than usual. Eep! But I’m very grateful to have a job. I hope I get use to this whole waking 9 hrs of work per day type deal or else I’m going to be crashing during the weekend.

Work is pretty great. I get every other Friday off. So that means 3 day weekends! Sometimes it could be more if a national holiday comes through or whatever. I am hoping I can visit SA on one of those weekends. Fingers crossed. I hope FTK has something going on that weekend or something. It would give me an excuse to visit and see everyone. Winking smile

I am hoping I have time this weekend to write out a fitness plan. I am in need of it badly. Apparently I lost a few pounds when I was in Hong Kong and now I’m struggling to have it kept off. All I do is wake up, walk to my car, drive to work, sit in my chair for almost 9 hours give or take a good 10 minutes when I walk to the restroom or heat up my lunch, then drive back home, and sit. I am actually quite sad that I am too tired to workout. Why am I even tired? I don’t even move at all! So I’m giving my body a week’s notice to get use to the new schedule because this isn’t going to cut it!

Any tips on how to stay active/healthy while working?

Much appreciated.

Alyssa & Greg: Rehearsal Dinner

August 6, 2012 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

My first day at work went pretty well. Went out to lunch with some of my team members and got to know some of them better. I only personally knew ONE  person on my floor but I’m lucky to have him because I would be so lost and all alone!

Anyway, the wedding was GORGEOUS. Beautiful. And super elegant and classy. But let’s rewind to Friday …

Mani/Pedi

I woke up bright and early and headed to CR Creative Nails and met up with Alyssa and her bridesmaids. I’m not a bridesmaid but I was very thankful I still got to be a part of the party and have so much fun. And I got to meet the rest of the bridesmaids and I’m glad to say, they are some of the nicest people ever. And gorgeous! One was our high school friend, Lauren F., and the rest were from Alyssa’s college. Oh and Alyssa’s sister, Cara.

IMG_20120803_134431

I had my first ever Pedi. I’m not a fan of feet but I wanted to be like everyone else and got it done. I am proud to report that I did not kick the lady in the face. Even when it tickled … a freaking lot. Alyssa caught my reactions and couldn’t help but laugh. Everyone was a natural but me. I am not use to relaxing and the lady doing my pedicure told me to relax and stop looking at her because every time I looked at her, I wanted to help … and I. Was. Not. Helping. Whoops.

But oh geebus, I’m happy Alyssa’s Mum picked this place. It’s the best service I ever had. Maybe it’s because we’re the bridal party but I am wanting to go back there again and get my nails done! Mum already says I have to once I get my first paycheck. Wonderful.

Three Olives Lunch

2012-08-03 12.11.13

After our mani/pedi, we had lunch a 3 Olives which was down the street. The last time I went here was for a friend’s bridal party and didn’t have such a great experience. I’m happy to tell you that after the remodeling, the food got tastier. The service still sucked balls though so only go here when you aren’t starving or on a tight schedule.

2012-08-03 12.51.54

I believe I got the Southwest Fettuccine. It was so good. Try it!

Rehearsal Dinner Party

Lauren and I made plans to get ready at her place so I went home and slummed around a little bit then headed to Lauren’s. Then we peeled out of the drive way and headed towards the hotel where everyone else was. After getting lost for a few minutes or so, we finally found it. I am ashamed to say I live in Katy. I do not know where anything is …

2012-08-03 17.36.08

The charter bus took us to the rehearsal place. So gorgeous. Them practicing. I cried and it wasn’t even the real thing. Ridiculous? …

2012-08-03 19.34.55

Then the charter bus took us all downtown to McCormick’s and Schmick’s. We had red wine and white. I chose the latter since I don’t really drink wine.

2012-08-03 19.32.542012-08-03 19.32.252012-08-03 19.32.342012-08-03 19.32.44

Then we had some really great appetizers. Different cheeses with strawberries. Fried shrimp. Crab meat stuffed mushrooms. Cucumber with salmon and capers.

IMG_8645IMG_8646IMG_8648

We had a list of stuff we could chose from and I chose this: Dinner was bread with butter. New England Clam Chowder. Filet Mignon with green beans and mashed potatoes.

IMG_8649

We had champagne with our toasts which were lovely!

IMG_8650

And then our desserts came out. I picked the cheesecake … which became a blueberry cheesecake. Even better! It was delicious.

I sat next to Cara and all she could do was tell me “Go big, or go home!” when I couldn’t finish my food … I wanted to go home so bad.

IMG_8652IMG_8651IMG_8653

Alyssa then gave us presents. The bridesmaids got earrings that went gorgeously with their dress. That would be Lauren’s earrings. And I got a necklace (which I wore as a bracelet since it didn’t go well with my dress).

IMG_8661

Greg’s parents got these cups made! And then had little bags of Jordan Almonds in there. So cute!

I had a great time getting to know everyone in Alyssa’s life. It meant a lot that they included me. I felt very a part of the wedding party and it’s simple things like this. Getting to know some of the most important people in her life.

Up next … The wedding.

Stay tuned!
