Maggiano’s | San Antonio, Texas

Maggiano's | San Antonio, Texas

Amanda and I did another catch up session on February 9th at Maggiano’s. This is my go to pasta place at the moment and also where my pasta obsession came from.

Maggiano's | San Antonio, Texas | Bread

Bread [with oil and herbs] | free

I’m not a big fan since it was a little on the hard side and the dip didn’t give it much flavour as I hoped. More herbs less oil please. This bread did not win me over.

Maggiano's | San Antonio, Texas | Baked Ziti

Baked Ziti | $12.95

This was so good I finished it all! It would definitely be better if they added a little bit more sauce on top so that when it’s baked, it wouldn’t turn out so dry on top.

Maggiano's | San Antonio, Texas | Spaghetti & Meatballs

Spaghetti & Meatballs | Free With Main Meal

They have a deal where when you order from the Classic Pasta section you can take home another to take home. They stuff the little containers with so much pasta! And the meatball was gigantic!! I was able to make two meals out of it which means with tip, I only paid about eighteen dollars for three meals. What a steal!

Maggiano's | San Antonio, Texas | Heating Instructions

They even have instructions on how to reheat the food which is really thoughtful.

Ken’s Donuts | Austin, Texas

Ken's Donuts | Austin, Texas

After eating our Korean leftovers for dinner on February 4th Tammy, Jenny, and I decided to go out for dessert landing us in Ken’s Donuts. They had so many choices and for a donut shop to still be opened at night was surprising.

We decided it was easier if one person paid so everything is in the same box and split the costs later. The things I got were:

  • Blueberry Centers – These were not great at all. It tasted better when it was sitting in the fridge for a night. Instead, go for the regular centers. They taste way better.
  • Sugar Yeast Donut – I like when my donuts have little crystals on it and let me just say this was magnificent. So soft and fluffy!
  • Glazed Donut – It wasn’t that great. I’ll stick to the Sugar Yeast.

I would come back here just for the Sugar Yeast Donuts and I don’t even care about donuts. There, I said it!

Torchy’s Tacos | Austin, Texas

Torchy's Taco | Austin, Texas

For breakfast on February 4th, Tammy, Jenny, and I went to Torchy’s Tacos. I’ve heard so much about this place from Sissy but never had a chance to go.

Torchy's Taco | Austin, Texas | Menu

Their menu is pretty straightforward. Everything’s written on a chalkboard. I love it!

Torchy's Taco | Austin, Texas | Jalapeno Sausage Egg and Cheese

Jalapeno Sausage Egg and Cheese on a Flour Tortilla | $2

Torchy's Taco | Austin, Texas | The Democrat

The Democrat [shredded beef barbacoa topped with fresh avocado, queso fresco, cilantro, onions, & a wedge of lime] | $3.75

They stuff these babies so it’s definitely worth the money. I got my Democrat taco on a corn tortilla which we found out they’ll give you two of. If you order flour, you’ll only get one. Because of this, I was able to make two tacos.

I really want to go here again and again. Thank goodness they have so many locations!

Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas

Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas

On February 3rd, Jenny and I went to Austin since I couldn’t go home for Chinese New Year due to the weather. We stayed at Tammy’s place and went to dinner at Austin BBgo. There was no one there when we walked in and only saw one other couple the time we were there. We soon found out why …

Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas | Side Dishes

Korean Side Dishes

Korean restaurants usually come and ask if we wanted to refill our side dishes, but this place didn’t do that and we were too shy to ask. That gets an “x” in my book.

Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas | Galbi

Galbi | ~$16

The amount they gave me is not worth what I paid. It was good but not as good as back in Houston so to me, not worth it at all.

Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas | Bibimbap

Bibimbap

Tammy said her Bibimbap was pretty good.

Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas | Bulgogi

Bulgogi |~$12

Jenny’s was a different story. The meat was tough and it had no taste. Not sure what happened there. We all tried it and all agreed it was the worst thing ever.

Although we were all able to get seconds out of all these dishes, Jenny’s was the worst. When she ate her leftovers, I can hear her sobbing internally.

I’m a big fan of Korean food but I’ll never come here again. It was not worth my money.

Yogurt Zone | San Antonio, Texas

Eric and I weren’t done catching up after 46th St. Pizzeria so we headed next door for dessert Yogurt Zone.

Yogurt Zone | San Antonio, Texas

The price was by weight, so the heavier it is, the more it costs. You can put as much as you want.

Yogurt Zone | San Antonio, Texas | Cake Batter & Strawberry Sensation

Cake Batter & Strawberry Sensation [with Rainbow Mochi, Strawberries, Blueberries, M&Ms, Mini Peanut Butter Cups, and Dark Chocolate Chips]

I believe mine came out to be about two to three dollars. I don’t go crazy for the froyo. I’m more of a topping person. Ever since then I’ve come back here once and I must say, much better than Orange Cup.
