Cocohodo & Sweet Vivian’s | Katy, Texas

Cocohodo | Katy, Texas

Cocohodo & Sweet Vivian’s
1645 Winding Hollow Dr.

Katy, Texas 77450

After reading the reviews, I feel gypped for not receiving a free walnut pastry like other new customers. I’ve come to this place three times so I guess you could say my opinions should matter, right? Maybe.

Cocohodo | Katy, Texas | Lounge

They have sweet lounging. Enough to go around. The three times I’ve been here I have not seen this place fully packed to where I cannot get a table. Win. That means I have a new workplace. And they sell tea and other cute things that would make for good presents.

The only complaint I have has to do with the Wi-Fi. I’ve sat in two different locations with my laptop and I will have to say where I’m standing to take this picture has the best reception. If you sit where you face the wall on the opposite side, you’ll find the internet to be lagging. I thought it was just my laptop but I brought in two different laptops, and both were the same result.

Plus I’m not a big fan of having people sit facing the walls even if there are enough plugs. I like to people watch or stare out a window while I work to get inspiration and rest my eyes. Sitting facing that wall was tough.

Cocohodo | Katy, Texas | Patio

If you like the outdoors, you can venture outside to their patio. Construction is going on across the street so I opted to stay indoors.

Cocohodo | Katy, Texas | Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream

One thing they’re known for is their liquid nitrogen ice cream. We didn’t really get to see much action up front. Just that one time. I guess they usually do everything in the back.

Cocohodo | Katy, Texas | Nutella Affogato Ice Cream

Timothy got the Nutella with Affogato Nitrogen Ice Cream. He was nice enough to let me get a taste and their ice cream was definitely smooth thanks to the nitrogen.

When we got our order Timothy found a piece of hair in the ice cream and after telling them, they went and (hopefully) gave us a whole new one. The owner felt bad and came over to apologize and described how it’s done. He uses up to four ingredients only so it’s natural compared to store bought.

Cocohodo | Katy, Texas | Ice Blended Caramel Macchiato

Ice Blended Caramel Macchiato

After the hair incident, I decided to give them another chance but only ordered a drink while I worked. This drink is deathly sweet. Too sweet.

Cocohodo | Katy, Texas | Ice Blended Green Tea Latte

Ice Blended Green Tea Latte

Apparently, they can make these drinks hot too, but it’s not on their menu. Maybe I’ll opt for that next time. I liked this better than the Caramel Macchiato, though.

Cocohodo | Katy, Texas | Veggie Chicken Savory Crepe

Veggie Chicken Savory Crepe [chicken, broccoli, onion, & mushrooms with a Bechamel Sauce]

I did not know it came with a tiny side of salad which was drizzled with a very sour dressing. If I had known, I would have told them to leave it out. It made my crepes all sorts of sour. Boo. And I was expecting chunks of chicken and veggies but instead it was pureed. I felt I was eating baby food because of the texture but other than that, it wasn’t too bad. The crepe was super crispy on the sides so it was a plus.

Overall, this is a great place to work and have a bite. Just beware of dead Wi-Fi spots.

Feeling Accomplished

March 3, 2016 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I’m taking my first official vacation for the year. This weekend is jam packed and I figured I’d take a day or so off to relax before it began.

I realized having Rizzo in my life has made me less lazy in the sense of sleeping. No matter what time I go to bed, I’ll always wake up no later than 7 am because he has to do his business.

There are four pups in the house at the moment and not having to go to work and cuddling with them instead was joyous. Best decision ever. Then I had a lovely shower before getting ready to head out to work on my side stuff with a drink in my hand.

Cocohodo | Katy, Texas | Ice Blended Green Tea Latte

I sat sitting in Cocohodo for a good hour and a half trying to fix my DNS issues all because my laptop decided to do an update last night. After much research on YouTube videos, because no other web pages worked, I found a great one that fixed my issue! Ugh … jerks for having updates that fudge people’s day.

But anyway, we’re all good now and my tummy is full from Cocohodo. I got a lot done which wouldn’t happen if I didn’t leave the house. I would have stayed longer if I didn’t get kicked out of my seat for a big group of ladies where the table I moved to was a dead spot for Wi-Fi.

Back to checking things off my list. I love when things get completed especially when it’s still super early!

Happy Thursday, poops!

Dish Society | Katy, Texas | Half Quinoa Stuffed Avocado

Half Quinoa Stuffed Avocado [avocado half topped with citrus quinoa relish] | $5

Is it worth the $5? No. But was it delicious? Yes. I’m contemplating making this for my lunches next week. It was that good and simple enough. Our house is always filled with quinoa and avocados so it shouldn’t be too hard. I just have to get the sauce just right.

Dish Society | Katy, Texas | Grilled Chicken Pasta

Grilled Chicken Pasta [linguini, texas pecan pesto, tomato, grilled chicken breast, parsley] | $13.50

It didn’t come with a lot for that price but it was good. Not much to say about it. Just regular pesto pasta.

Would I come back to Dish Society? Probably not unless someone makes me. It’s pricey, not much choices to where I’d want to come back and try something else. Plus their service was a little slow. It was fine until they had more people come in so we were waiting a long time for our waiter to take our order, to give us our food, and to get the check.

Sweet Boutique | Katy, Texas | Macaroons

We had a little dessert at The Sweet Boutique. I’ve been to the one in City Centre enough times but surprisingly never tried this one. Fruity Pebble, Cookies & Creme, Key Lime, Blueberry. I’ve never seen any of these flavours over at City Centre. They probably have it and I missed it but it was nice not having the usual macaroons.

Always in a search for a good place to blog and work. Last Friday I decided to try out a new place and found this place on Yelp. When I got here, I was surprised. Not what I was expecting. It’s attached to a market. The Harvest Natural Market. Organic and all that fancy shizz. Picture it like Whole Foods. I should of read Yelp reviews better … but I didn’t.

Not too sure how to describe the chill. Brooding? Dark and gloomy? Cozy? Cozy. Let’s go with cozy. I came here on a Friday during lunch time so the noise level was mute, except the barista when she talks to customers that come in. They have booths and comfy chairs. But they also have a high table with stool like chairs. Those are always my favourite.

You can order coffees, teas, and even … get this! wines and beers! Which I um … might want to do next time because who wouldn’t want to get a little tipsy while they work. Just kidding ……

She put my $4.50 Chai Tea Latte in their pretty branded mug so I could take a pretty picture. One of the best chai lattes I’ve had in a long while. I would say for the amount you get, it’s not worth $4.50. But I guess, for it being organic, it’s suppose to be worth it.

I probably won’t come back for the coffee since I’m poor, but I would come back to work and blog … and okay, fine. I would probably come back to drink while doing so.

Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom | Katy, Texas

January 13, 2016 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Hump Day! The weekend is almost over and I’m excited. Hopefully I will be without much pain, enough to actually go out this weekend. Fingers crossed. I miss seeing some peoples in my life!

Hedgehog Mug GiftHow cute is this? One of my coworkers saw this and bought it for me. Eeeep!! If you can’t tell, it’s a hedgehog mug. Super adorable. I cannot wait to use this when I have my new place … whenever that is.

Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom | Katy, Texas

Last night’s Mellie Dee & Mallory’s weekly hangout ended up at:

Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom
24515 Katy Fwy
Katy, Texas 77450
(281) 347-0090
http://oldchicago.com

Their menu is a little crazy. Too much to chose from. And if you know me, I’m not a big lover of pizza but she is so that’s why we were there. We are trying a new thing this year where we try new places and we’re doing well so far.

Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom | Katy, Texas Fries, Calzones, Pizza

Parmesan Garlic Fries [tossed with Italian garlic seasonings and drizzled with our creamy garlic sauce] | $3.99

They were okay. We tasted more garlic than Parmesan. I would probably just get a burger with fries next time because the fries are made to perfection.

Chicago 7 Calzone [an Old Chicago original with pepperoni, Italian sausage, and onions, black olives, green peppers, sliced mushrooms, and a blend of mozzarella, ricotta, and Asiago cheeses] | $10.99

Bleugh … super thick dough which turned hard. Somehow there were two layers of crust which made it worse. I just ate the insides which wasn’t bad but nothing special.

Hawaiian [Canadian bacon, pineapple, red peppers, green onions and sweet Thai chili tomato sauce] | individual size $11.59

Not a lover of pineapples but we both like this over the calzone but even then … meh. Nothing special.

If I end up here again, I’d try a burger or wings instead. The pizza isn’t horrible but I would stay away from the calzone. The service was pretty slow and there wasn’t even much people there. It took Mallory a good 15 minutes to get her beer. Would we come back again? Probably for our birthdays for free pizzas but that’s about it.
