Mala Szechuan and Bing Sui | Katy, Texas

January 31, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

JJ & Emmy on the Trampoline

JJ and Emmy finally got to play together again! They got to jump on trampolines and make pretend foods and ride in the mini car. They even got to enjoy some Tiff’s I brought over. Sadly I left work an hour early and ended up working practically the entire time j was over. Luckily, SIL was able to join and meet Mallory so whenever Emmy needed something I could continue working.

Mala Szechuan | Katy, Texas | Brudda, SIL, Jenny, Le, Jennifer, Jimmy

Since the Dallas folks, Brudda, SIL, Jenny, and Le were in town, they made plans to meet up with Jennifer and Jimmy and I got asked to tag along. I’m always down for food so I agreed. Ethan came along as well. We went to Mala Szechuan for dinner. We ordered a bottle of wine and a great big number of dishes. Everythimg is always so delicious here. My favourite is the crispy chicken!

Bing Sui | Katy, Texas | Brudda, SIL, Jenny, Le, Jennifer, Jimmy

We decided to get dessert at Bing Sui. Somi Somi is still my favourite ice cream and takiyaki combo. Bing Sui gave out some stale takiyakis and the ice cream wasn’t as memorable as Somi Somi. They did like their shaved ice dessert though.

After we were all stuffed we all headed to Jennifer’s new practice. Her opening is tomorrow and it was nice to see it before the renovations. We were there for a while getting some free consultation for our eyes and joking about other things.

I’m so pooped now and ready to unwind and go to sleep. Night, world.

Tea Top | Katy, Texas

January 29, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Guys! I’ve struggled with my internet speed since I was a child. CHILD! Today Brudda set up a booster and my speed is so freaking fast now. In every single part of our house. It’s such a new thing to me that I had to document it.

Technical QBR with Reservoir Engineers & Geologists

Today the reservoir engineers and geologist presented at the technical quarterly business review. It’s such a great feeling to see all your hard work being put to use. I’ve also found my love for fresh blueberries again.

Eight Turn Crepe with Tammy, Emmy, June

After a day full of meetings I went home for dinner. I had promised to take Tammy for dessert so we, along with Emmy and June, went to Eight Turn Crepe. It was good but not as good as good as when it first opened. We still had fun though.

Tea Top | Katy, Texas

We then stopped at Tea Top since it’s apparently one of the best rated. It took us a lot of time to figure out the menunanf they were very patient. It was only okay for me but I guess I’ll still come back.

I’ve been binging on The Crown since starting it with Mallory. It’s getting better and better. I feel my British accent coming up. It’s horrid though.

Two more days of work til the weekend!!

2020 Chinese New Year Lion Dance

January 26, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Sleeping at two in the morning I set my alarm for seven am so that I could check in to see if Mallory was still down to do lion dances with me. Actually, it was for me to do it with her. She called me out for never taking her in the years we’ve known one another.

Starbucks | Sous Vide Eggs

I stopped by Starbucks for a green tea latte and picked up a coffee for her as well. Since I had taken meds, I had to eat and picked up these eggs for the first time. It’s actually not bad, and similar to the egg cupcakes I use to make in college.

Karma Kolaches & Desserts | Katy, Texas | Mallory & JJ

The fatty in me couldn’t resist a Kolaches when we got to Karma Kolache and Desserts. This was were the lion dances were happening and JJ was super excited! He was also hopped up on his sugar from the donuts but stayed a sweet sweet boy. Mallory and I loved the kronut the best and hope to come back for more in the future.

Soon enough, the lions started dancing and JJ, afraid when they approached at first ended up loving them. He was brave enough to feed them dollar bills and was eaten by one in the last frame.

2020 Chinese New Year | JJ Chinese Jacket

We decided to go again to the HMart one so I followed them home and relaxed a bit before heading back out again, this time with John as well. We met up with Madison, Brandon, Daisy, Darby, and Danica. They were already chowing down on some egg waffles and ice cream so John ordered an ice cream and shared it with JJ.

I share this picture because JJ finally fits the Chinese Jacket I got him when he was born! He loved it and would have kept it on if it wasn’t so thick. Fail on my part for thinking it’d be cold during Chinese New Year. Come on, Melissa, we live in Texas.

HMart | Katy, Texas | JJ, Daisy, Danica, Darby | 2020 Chinese New Year Lion Dance

This one was definitely more professional since they did some neat tricks and even have the guy in the mask. Not sure his name but his role is to trick the lions to come to him.

After we left and was heading to Mallory’s house, JJ kept asking if he could come over to my house. I guess I’m cool now. He probably associate lions to me now like he does with Trey and his motorcycle.

Poached Eggs

I made a delicious early dinner. First time I ever poached eggs and I’m proud with how they came out.

Cleaning is complete and I worked a good couple of hours and meal prepped. It’s been a very busy day but it’s all been worthwhile.

2020 Chinese New Year Part 2

January 25, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Tetris Level 99

We celebrated Chinese New Year today by going to Grandma’s, meeting up with uncles, aunts, Sissy and BIL. I played Tetris and went up to level 99 before it ended saying Congratulations. I wanted to see how far I could go! Ugh. BIL and I played a few games of Bomberman before calling it quits since the CPU won’t EVERY SINGLE TIME. We’re horrible.

Duck and Bao | Katy, Texas

When we left June, Mum and I stopped by Duck and Bao since eating dumplings is good luck for the new year. When we were just about finished the waiter told us they had changed chefs. It explains why the food tasted different than our first time. It wasn’t as flavourful, not as much juices and you can see the hole at the top of the soup dumplings. It was a bummer. We still enjoyed our meal though. Hopefully, when they asked for my feedback, they take what I say to consideration to make it better.

I’ve been cleaning my office in preparation for the little ones to arrive! I’ve been getting in a lot of Netflix movies while doing so.i keep forgetting to clean and end up just watching. Maybe I’m getting old and I can’t multitask anymore …

Delices de Maurice | Katy, Texas

January 24, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Today has been a fairly good day. I woke up early and got my blood work done then headed over to the chiropractor. I splurged and got some sole inserts custom made that’s going to come in a couple of weeks. This is the first session where anywhere he put his hands on it cracked so nicely. I feel as if some weight has been lifted.

Delices de Maurice | Katy, Texas

I walked around World Market for a bit then headed to Delices de Maurice to meet up with Sebastian. He was nice enough to treat me to dessert, berry fruit tart for me and a cream puff for him. We each got a savory type crepe. I also got a hazelnut latte and he got a French onion soup.

Everything was perfectly made. We both agreed it’s the best crepe in Houston and the pastry was so crisp and fresh. I want more! This is by far one of the best French bistros in Houston!

We sat and talked for what was only supposed to be an hour since he had to pack and head to Austin. By the time we looked down on our phones we realized over two hours had passed. We bid our farewells and I headed home.

2020 Chinese New Year

After a while I headed to the dealership for some maintenance before heading back home to our Chinese New Year meal.

I’m currently being lazy but I really need to start cleaning my office so that when Brudda, SIL, Emmy, and Finn come down, they have a clean place to sleep for a whole week! Yippie!!
