When I was a little girl, I’d dream about the perfect date being in an amusement park. Ride scary rides and hold his hand for dear life. Maybe puke a little. Stuff our faces with funnel cakes, corn dogs, and the such. Play games and win a stuffed animal. Continue with rides and end with the Ferris wheel while the stars shine brightly all around us.
As I grew older, I’d realize there wasn’t such a thing as a “perfect” date. Instead, an experience we both have never encountered before or something that challenges us mentally and physically would be the perfect date.
I was at Six Flags at the end of April with Scruffy and we only did a sliver of what I imagined it would be when I was little. Rides were ridden but he was the one that blacked out on the Superman. We split a funnel cake but we couldn’t even devour half of it. And we left early because a few hours was enough to make our inner child happy.
As we headed back to the hotel, it dawned on me that any experience we have together is a new experience because we experienced it as a couple for the first time. And that in itself is perfect enough.
