I’m so tired from sitting in the car and running errands. And my stomach was killing me the whole entire car ride. Hoping it doesn’t last all week again. Complain complain. Per usual. I hope this week treats me fairly well. That we all get along. Work doesn’t pile up. My computer doesn’t die. And everyone’s happy.
Since I’m too tired to actually write like I’ve been, here’s a draft I’ve been saving for a lazy day. I suck at reviewing foods because they’re either “deilicious” or “meh” when I comment on them. So … just look at the pictures and move on. haha On August 7th, I went to Houston Restaurant Week with Apurva for a super late lunch at
The Devine Affair Restaurant & Wine Bar

We were wanting the lunch menu but since we got there when lunch was over, we were handed the dinner menu. They chef was nice enough to let us order off the lunch menu and even came a few times to ask us how we liked it. Best service ever.
Free Bread!
I’m not a big fan of bread but if you love bread like Apurva does, you would like it. Their bread is made fresh and mix their own oil herb dipping sauce.
First Course
Chicken & Sausage Gumbo [Cajun roux with okra, chicken, Andouille sausage & rice]
Calamari [with lightly breaded jalapeno slices & homemade marinara]
We decided to share these two since we wanted to try both. She isn’t a fan of okra and they doused it with okra. I loved it but it was a bit salty for my taste. They didn’t bread the calamari too much so the ratio was perfect. The tentacles are always my favourite. Apurva thought those were just extra breading. haha
Entree
Mushroom-Marsala Burger [8 oz certified Angus burger topped with mushroom-marsala sauce with provolone cheese on a Sheila Partin sweet sour dough bun served with hand cut fries]
Blackened Salmon [with mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables, & Cajun sauce]
The bread was semi okay. I mostly just ate the meat and the cheese. It was too much for me. I was already full after a few bites from the appetizers! The chef did come over and asked how the fries were. He admitted they’re still trying to figure out how to make the fries better. He explained that they’re made in house as well and does not have the ingredient other places use to make them crispy. Hopefully they perfect that because the fries were mehhhh. Soggy and flimsy.
I didn’t taste her salmon but she says it was delicious. She would come back and order this again in the future.
Dessert
New York Cheese Cake [with graham cracker crust]
Chocolate Mousse Cake [with Oreo cookie crust]
Everyone knows I’m not a big fan of sweets so I took a bite of the cheesecake and gave the rest for her to take home to her brother. They did a mighty fine job on both of these. Super smooth.
Overall, they had great service but would I come back again in the future? Probably not. And if I ever did, I’d probably get something else.
