2015 Asia Trip | Day 9

November 6, 2015 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

We are in Phuket, Thailand!

It was a struggle getting here only because I’ve been sick the past few days with a cold. I took two days of cold medcine in pill form but Rachel went and got me some cough syrup that didn’t come with a measuring cup yesterday. Since I don’t know how much I am to take, I just chug the amount I think I should and I think I over chugged this morning.

Hong Kong Airport Congee Breakfast

When we got to the airport we got a Hong Kong breakfast. BIL is starting to love congee which is surprising. Feels like if you throw a few pices of meat in anything, he’ll like it. haha

Thai Airlines

Afterward we headed to our gate. I was so tired, most likely because of the cough syrup, that I took a nap waiting to board.

Thai Airlines Peanuts

Once we got on the plane I was so tired I knocked out before we even lift off. When I woke up few minutes later they were passing out peanuts and drinks. I didn’t eat mine.

Thai Airline Flight Meal

I went back to my nap and woke up to them passing out food. I guess I can smell it. ha … Fattie. I was actually very full but ate some while watching “She’s Funny That Way”. Another good movie in the books for me. I went back to my nap. Woke up and watched an episode of 2 Broke Girls. It’s always a show I’ve wanted to watch but can never find on Netflix or Amazon.

Horn Grill Steakhouse | Phuket, Thailand

When we finally got off the plane we drove an hour to our abode. I slept the entire way. Which rarely happens. Thanks cough syrup. We checked in and then we went and ate at Horn Grill Steakhouse. We ordered drinks and some dishes. It was okay. Sissy and I shared and gave the rest to BIL. They also give you a shot of guava juice at the end. So refreshing.

Kata Beach | Phuket, Thailand

We walked to the beach to scope it out then went to the store to get some necessities. People here do not care as you can tell in the picture. They left their vespa and sidecar in the middle of a two way street. We headed back to the abode where they showered and I again … fell asleep.

Sabai Massage | Phuket, Thailand

When everyone was ready, we went and got massages. Apparently I fell asleep there too and the lady had to keep tapping on me to switch positions. Whoops. I don’t know what is going on but these episodes has been helpful in making me sleep.

We then walked around some more and they got some fresh juices mixed together. The rain started to drizzle then poor down. Luckily we live clos and got home soon enough.

We relaxed a bit and talked about some excursions we were thinking of. Now we’re ready for bed and y’all know … I am. haha Hopefully I’m not like this tomorrow though.

It’s only 9:35pm here in Thailand but … good night. 😛

2015 Asia Trip | Day 8

November 5, 2015 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Dim Sum | Hong Kong

We were ready to go and walk Mong Kok with Vincent but Dad had different plans for us. We had to meet out in the almost boondocks for brunch with my other Dad’s cousin at his restaurant. He ordered a bunch of foods and thankfully we told him we had shopping plans so we were able to head out after about an hour or so. I felt sorry for Vincent since he had to be there only because we had made plans earlier.

Street Food | Mong Kok, Hong Kong

Afterward, we rode taxis to Mong Kok and ate street foods while we shopped for souvenirs. We didn’t buy much though so it felt we were more just walking and eating … not much different from any other day that we’ve been here.

Korean Buffet | Hong Kong

Not much else happened. We went back to our abode to packed then went to PoPo’s to drop of what we wouldn’t be bringing to Phuket. Than we went to dinner at a Korean BBQ place. All you can eat. I’m certain PoPo gave me some that wasn’t cooked because my stomach was hurting afterward. Hoping I have no problems on my flight to Phuket. Yikes.

I’m a little weary about what we will be doing. Partly because I realized I won’t have a book to read while laying on the beach now that I gave my IPad to Mum to keep while I was away. Whomp. Guess I’ll just tan and fall asleep. Boo …

2015 Asia Trip | Day 7

November 4, 2015 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Starbucks and Sausage Bread | Hong Kong

Sausage bread and an iced green tea latte for breakfast. Breakfast of champions. Duh.

Macau Ferry Boat | Hong Kong

We met at the ferry area, bought our tickets, and was on our way to Macau. The ride was one hour or so long and I was the unlucky one who ended up sitting by herself with strangers. Oh well. I took the time to write about things in my journal. It was weird to do so since I thought I’d gotten over it … guess not.

Macau Restaurant | Hong Kong

Anyway, after the ride, we went to a restaurant Dicky works for which is pretty famous due to it being opened by celebrities and rich people? A lot of other celebrities come here and sign their name. Since we were sitting in the “VIP” area (not certain we were but felt like it), I asked if I had to sign anything before I left … I’m hilarious. I know.

Macau Restaurant | Hong Kong

The meal came with a lot of food. I couldn’t finish it all. I’m positive my stomach shrinks when I come home.

Macau Restaurant - Hong Kong

He apparently created these two dishes or helped create it? I’m not 100% sure. But it was pretty cool to experience it even though I’m not a big fan of bread … or eggs.

Macau Gambling | Hong Kong

We walked around and took in the view then went and gambled. I won 100 HKD which isn’t enough but hey, I didn’t lose any either so it’s a win in my book!

Comidas Hung Yue Macau | Hong Kong

We walked around and took in some attractions then went and had dinner at a very popular place in Macau. They even had a TripAdvisor sticker outside their building. Mmmm … I told them that if we went to Macau, I wanted to go here because I’ve been dreaming about their pork bone marrow pot since Dicky took me three years ago. So freaking good.

We rode the ferry back and Kathy and I talked about my dating life … nonexistent I should say. She says I’m probably like her and it seems I am. If so I’m going to be single fo life. Time to find a place and settle down all by my lonesome. Ha …. By the time we made it back to Hong Kong, we bid farewell to one another and headed back to our abode.

Sounds like a very short day but in reality we had one of our longest walks since we got here. Over 10 miles of walking. Zzzz, feets be tired. I am waiting to get a massage and for little fishes to eat my feet when we get to Phuket. Sounds amazing right now. Sigh.

Tomorrow is going to be a pretty lazy day. Sleep in. Eat. Walk and shop around our area. Then pack up and eat dinner with our family. I cannot wait to see PoPo again. She’s so adorables.

Til tomorrow,

2015 Asia Trip | Day 6

November 3, 2015 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Today was pretty chill. Not too much walking around so we weren’t too tired. Plus many of the others got to nap before dinner. HAHA We’re so old.

Egg Tart | Hong Kong

We stopped by a bakery for Sissy to pick up bread for breakfast while I picked up an egg tart.

Then we all rode the metro to meet Billy. He was also visiting from the states so we decided to meet up with him. And go to various locations with one Michelin Star because anything else would be … too expensive.

Tim Ho | Hong Kong

After walking around in circles, we finally found Billy in front of Tim Ho. I don’t think they kept their Michelin Star … plus it wasn’t all that great. I wouldn’t really want to go here again …

Kam's Roast Goose | Hong Kong

Afterward we took the metro to Kam’s Roast Goose. We were there early and waited in line. When we were finally seated, we ordered half a roasted goose with four yin yuen. The lady probably thought it was ridiculous to order so little for six people but they didn’t know we were doing a quick food tour. The duck was on the super fatty side. Was it good, yes, but is it worth the super thick layer of fat you had to peel off and drain? … no.

Egg Waffle Peanut Butter Waffle | Hong Kong

We stopped by street food of egg waffles and waffle with peanut butter and probably condensed milk. Mmm .. memories. Those can never go wrong except … I woudn’t get it from this place. The egg waffles were a little overcooked to where they were too crispy, no bite. Then we went into some shops and looked around.

Din Tai Fung | Hong Konga

Last place we decided on was Din Tai Fung, famous for it’s steamed soup dumplings. This is very famous in Taiwan and now they have it in so many places. Since this was our last stop, we decided to order a lot more. It ended up being everyone’s favourite place.

We said our goodbyes to Billy and all decided to go back to our abode and rest up before a long ride out to the boondocks to see my Grandma’s brother and wife. I wasn’t able to nap like the others but it was nice getting to just chill and not be on the go all the time. I feel like ever since we jumped off the plane, we’ve been going nonstop to see places and people.

We went out to their place and chilled a bit in their home before walking to Victoria Harbour Restaurant. Apparently from here, it’s only a ten minute walk to China … how crazy is that?

Victoria Harbour Restaurant | Hong Kong

My dad per usual ordered WAY too much food. We were all stuffed and he was still eating. Ugh … gross. It’s 12am here and everyone’s knocked out. No matter what time we get back, I feel like we just knock out due to our long hours out in the sun.

Sissy gave me some pills to eat in hopes I’ll get more sleep since I got sick from the AC and lack of sleep. Hopefully I wake up tomorrow. teehee

2015 Asia Trip | Day 5

November 2, 2015 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Hiyah world! This is going to be a short little post since it’s already 1am over here. Oh and it’s now 14 hour time difference from Hong Kong to Houston due to Daylight Savings. Boo …

Congee and Noodles | Cafe de Coral | Hong Kong

Anyway, we woke up and got ready and had breakfast at Cafe de Coral again. This time I ordered something different. Congee and noodles. Mmm …

Hong Kong Traffic

We then met up with the rest of the crew at the metro to ride the bus to Ocean Park. We were stuck in traffic for a while since it was rush hour. But even then, it’s not as bad as our rush hour back home .. duh.

Ocean Park | Hong Kong

When we finally got there we realized we were an hour early. They had changed the times and we didn’t know so we sat around making plans for the next few days.

Ocean Park Animals | Hong Kong

We road roller coasters, got wet on a ride, recreated some pictures we took when we were younger, and saw different animals such as otters, penguins, koalas, sharks, etc. We even got to watch a seal show. Very short but very awesome to see. Made me want one at the end!

McDonald's | Ocean Park | Hong Kong

We had lunch of McDonald’s and everything does taste differently. It tastes way healthier too.

Ocean Park View | Hong Kong

Look at that view … loveeeeee.

Dolphin and Seal Show | Ocean Park | Hong Kong

We then walked around and saw more animals then watched the seal and dolphin show. It was so hot! Not too sure if I would think it’s worth sitting in the sun for … but it was pretty cool. I did want one at the end too though … but it made me sad watching it.

Ocean Park | Old Hong Kong

We rode the cable car down and walked trough Old Hong Kong where I pretended to sell vegetables, fruits, birds, etc. Silly … I know. My legs are weird to where you can see my bones defined … creeps.

Panda Monkey Ocean Park | Hong Kong

Sad we didn’t get to see the pandas. It was too late by the time we got there but the monkeys were so cute!! … This is only a statue but it’s so cuteeeee.

Fountain | Ocean Park | Hong Kong

Awesome water fountain reminded me of Vegas’ MGM water fountain. So pretty!! There was a little wind so it felt like it was hitting me in the face a little.

Tao Square | Hong Kong

We then had dinner with Mum’s side of the family at Tao Square were we met so many people we don’t remember. We probably met them when we were still living here. But it’s been years. We had our own table from the adults so we ordered our own foods. The gang was happy with what Rachel and I ordered so … that’s good.

Chung Kee Dessert | Hong Kong

The kids then went and got Asian dessert. I was the only one eating a hot dessert while the rest ate cold. I think I’m getting a cold from the air conditioner. B turned it to 22 degrees Celsius the first few nights. Now that it’s on 25, it feels much better and I feel much better. Hopefully I’ll be better by the time we board for Phuket.

Okay … bed time. ZZz .. night y’all … or morning.
