Galveston Beach

June 1, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Pleasure Pier | Galveston, Texas

The day started with me eating leftover KFC while Scruffy and his parents cooked themselves breakfast. As I was getting ready they got pulled into the BP oil spill movie. It was so sad watching it since it was an incident that never should have happened.

When that ended, his parents went to the beach and Scruffy and I headed to the oil rig for a tour. As we were driving we realized just hot and humid it was and decided to do something else instead since the rig was going to be all outside. We passed by Pleasure Pier, somewhere I always wanted to do but the dang weather wasn’t cooperate.

Vanilla Bean Frap | Starbucks

We decided to pick up some things from Kroger and I picked up a vanilla bean frappacino to curb the dizziness I was getting from the heat.

Mario's Pizza | Galveston, Texas

We headed back to the house, ordered pickup pizza from Mario’s Pizza because Papa John’s said we were too far for delivery. Sigh …

Mario's Pizza | Galveston, Texas | Pepperoni and Mushroom

Scruffy picked it up while I set up the Castle of Burgundy game. This pizza was actually decent. The only complaint we had was that they folded our pizza because it didn’t fit the box which in return ruined those two slices since the toppings slid right off. But no big deal.

[2018] 152/365: Galveston Beach

We only got through the first phase of five of the game before Rami, Caitlin, and Peyton came walking through the door. We packed up the game and played cards instead before heading to the beach.

Bluewater Grill & Ignoble Pizzeria | Galveston, Texas

It didn’t take long until we went back to the beach house and ordered dinner from Bluewater Grill & Ignoble Pizzeria. The food wasnt the best. They tasted like store bought everything.

Onething that was super disappointing was that they said their fries are different. When we opened the box expecting amazingness we saw dry, hard fries instead. This is definitely not a place we suggest.

I’m not too certain what the plans are now but I’m ready to fall straight to sleep it I could.

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | Taco Cabana | Breakfast Tacos

Brudda went and picked up some breakfast tacos for the clan. I was surprised how great Taco Cabana‘s steak egg breakfast taco was. Definitely the winner in my book.

[2018] 107/365: Searching For Nuts

We then headed to the Dallas Arboretum where we were met up with John, Peggy, and Sarah. Sammi skipped school and joined us which was kind of nice since I never see her. It took many shots to get the squirrel since he was running about scavaging for nuts.

You might just see pictures just because.

Like this one where SIL is walking with Emmy through a forest. It’s so freaking adorable. She’s growing up so fast!

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | Dallas Arboretum | Dallas, Texas | Maple Leaves

These maple leaves seem to be the winner for everyone.

2018 Wilson & Mei Mei Visit | Dallas Arboretum | Dallas, Texas | Pink Flowers

I realized as I was going through my pictures …

… that pinks and purples and blues call to me.

I’m happy I was able to come since I don’t get picture taking opportunities like this.

This was behind the waterfall.

And you can see the lake from here. There is free parking by the lake if you don’t want to spend $9 online or $15 at the door to park.

Afterwards, we went back to Brudda and SIL’s before heading to Twisted Root Burger Co.

We were able to try an array of shakes, fries, and burgers and we loved them all!

While the rest of the clan went shopping, Sammi, Brudda and I went home to rest up before our meal at Texas de Brazil with everyone else.

And here’s a man holding my favourite, picana. It was a clear winner for everyone. I was surprised at how little I ate. I guess my stomach is getting smaller!

Tomorrow morning, we’ll be driving back to Houston. Zzzzz, so tired. Night, everyone!

Ramble Creek Grill | Richmond, Texas

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II

The day started out at doctor’s office then Thai leftovers while watching Harry Potter #8, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. The last movie of the series. Scruffy made through it all.

Ramble Creek Grill | Richmond, Texas | Complimentary Nachos

Complimentary Nachos

Later that night we went to Ramble Creek Grill for dinner. The server was quite forgetful and the food did take a long time so we assumed it’s the reason they brought out these complimentary nachos. They were pretty delicious.

2018 | 075/365 | Ramble Creek Grill | Richmond, Texas | Award Winning Chili, The Rambler, Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich

Award Winning Chili [served with Texas toast or crackers] | $6.99 • The Rambler Burger [cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, and Rambler sauce] | $10.99 • Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich [steak, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions & provolone served on our bakery sub rolls] | $9.99

If you tell me what’s a good burger place, I’d probably pick this one though they do go a little heavy on the salt. Other than that, it’s always delicious and cooked right. The chili though, ain’t the best but was good enough for fries.

Right now, we’re just relaxing watching Netflix movies. Scruffy stops once in a while to play his games and I watch my Chinese soaps. Other than that, I’m ready to call it a night and get ready for St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow. Don’t worry though. We aren’t doing anything crazy.

JJ Loves Sour Cream

McAlister's Deli | Katy, Texas

I started off the day getting lunch with Mallory and JJ at McAllister’s Deli. It’s been a while since I’ve seen them and as always, the best of times!

McAlister's Deli | Katy, Texas | JJ and the Sour Cream

We caught JJ stealing some sour cream with his straw instead of grabbing his cookies and grilled cheese. This boy makes my heart full.

Rizzo and Yardwork

Afterward, I stopped by Starbucks then headed home and helped Dad with some yard work. Rizzo enjoyed the outdoors while we did so.

After dinner, I started my journey in setting up my new Samsung Galaxy S9+, in lilac. So far, I love it. Super fast, but anything compared to my S7 is fast. haha

The Orange Ball

March 13, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Mushroom & Salami Omelette

Scruffy had to go into work today so I was home alone, made a mushroom and salami omelet. I know, I know. It sounds HORRIBLE. But it wasn’t bad and I wanted to use what was at home instead of ordering food.

2018 | 072/365 | Luna and the Orange Ball & Rizzo

[2018] 072/365: The Orange Ball

I searched for jobs and threw balls for Luna. She jumped on the couch for a split second to get my attention so that I’d throw the ball for her. Hopefully, Scruffy’s parents don’t see this because she is NOT allowed on the couch! I told her to get off pronto (after I got this picture) so hopefully … that helps?!

This girl is obsessed with this orange ball, actually, tennis balls too. Rizzo also likes the orange ball and when he wants to play, which is very rare, I would have to hold Luna back else Rizzo won’t stand a chance. haha

Rizzo Sitting On Couch

His eyes staring at me like he’s pleading, “Mommy, can I please have the ball? She won’t share.” haha

Fanoosh - Biryani & Burger | Sugar Land, Texas | Classic Burger, Seasoned Fries, House Fries

Classic Burger [grass-fed 80/20 1/2 pounder, American cheese served with lettuce, onion, tomato & Fanoosh sauce] | $7 • Seasoned Fries [Fanoosh seasoned fries] | $4 • House Fries [seasoned fries, chopped burger, cheddar jack cheese, Fanoosh sauce, onions, cilantro] | $6

Scruffy came home and we decided to go to dinner at Fanoosh, just opened. I was excited about the House Fries and was actually pretty happy with them. The burger, on the other hand, was raw. Scruffy has been on the toilet for a while. Hopefully, that’s enough to paint you a picture. He left a picture and a Yelp review and the owners answered quickly after but other than the fries, I am not sure if I can trust the burgers.

Since then, Rizzo and I have gone back home. I’m ready for bed! Night, everyone!
