One Year (Dating) Anniversary

March 27, 2017 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Hi Blogosphere …

Mellie Dee & Emmy

On March 11th, I finally met my niece. She was WAY tinier in person and for a baby super long and skinny. Sigh, jealous of her already. I didn’t want to leave. Is it time to retire yet?

Mellie Dee Eyebrow Tinted & Eye Mask

And I got my eyebrows tinted for the first time with Sissy. Ignore the eye mask going on, this is the only picture I could find that was the day after tinting. I loved not doing my eyebrows for a good two weeks.

Persian New Year | Nou Rouz

On March 18th, I celebrated Persian New Year (Nou Rouz) with Scruffy’s family where we ate and played games with some well wishes in between. This would be the third new year I celebrated. Crazy.

Rockets vs Pelicans | Basketball

On March 24th, Sissy, BIL, Scruffy, and I attended the Rockets vs Pelicans game, Scruffy’s first basketball game. It was a nail bitter throughout the whole game but in the end we won!

Guitar Center | Sugar Land, Texas | Scruffy

Today marks one year of dating this beau. So weird how time passes us by so fast. We celebrated this weekend by lounging around the house watching Lost, homemade taco salads, oven roasted asparagus, Disney Karaoke, dancing, and answering questions to see how well we knew each other. We ended it by having a meal at Bombay Grill for lunch the next day, our favourite restaurant at the moment. Happy One Year!

The Most Perfect Date

Perfect Date: Stargazing in the Truck Bed

This is still on my bucket list
via

When I was a little girl, I’d dream about the perfect date being in an amusement park. Ride scary rides and hold his hand for dear life. Maybe puke a little. Stuff our faces with funnel cakes, corn dogs, and the such. Play games and win a stuffed animal. Continue with rides and end with the Ferris wheel while the stars shine brightly all around us.

As I grew older, I’d realize there wasn’t such a thing as a “perfect” date. Instead, an experience we both have never encountered before or something that challenges us mentally and physically would be the perfect date.

Rollercoaster Date

I was at Six Flags at the end of April with Scruffy and we only did a sliver of what I imagined it would be when I was little. Rides were ridden but he was the one that blacked out on the Superman. We split a funnel cake but we couldn’t even devour half of it. And we left early because a few hours was enough to make our inner child happy.

As we headed back to the hotel, it dawned on me that any experience we have together is a new experience because we experienced it as a couple for the first time. And that in itself is perfect enough.

Music | Miles On My Heart by Kyle Reynolds

It’s been awhile but, howdy. There are no complaints with life lately. I’ve been less busy this year (no wedding duties so far, though I do miss it), just a baby shower here, a baby shower there. I’ve been busy living life and when I have downtime to actually blog, I spend it cuddling with Rizzo. No regrets.

There are parts of my life that I am not ready to share with the world but I do know I want to jot it down to have for remembrance. I’ll have to wait and see how I go about those since I do want to keep it private for now – password protected posts? We’ll see.

So with that, I leave you with a song I’m in love with at the moment.

I’ll be the light in the night, to guide you home
I’ll be the glass around your heart and make sure it’s full

I’ll be the one to be strong, when you just can’t
I’ll be the anchor for your soul, if you just give me a chance

Please don’t break me, shake me, or cut me down
I can’t change, recreate, put a safe on this
love that’s fallen to the ground

Cause if you run, you know you’ll never know
If you wait, you’ll never know what it takes

Music | Fingertips by Ryan O’Shaughnessy

This song popped up on my “Discover Weekly” on Spotify and right when I heard the chorus, my eyes started to well up. I haven’t been able to stop listening to it.

I fell for someone immensely and though he says he had feelings for me, his feelings for someone else was stronger. His choice was made.

I still don’t understand how someone could have feelings for more than one person, but I hope I never find out because though it was painful for me to go through, it sounds painful for him as well.

How sad, right? Understanding those that hurt us. Sometimes, feeling, and understanding and feeling others sucks.

You’ve got that heart of gold
You’ve got the sweetest soul
But I can’t seem to bring myself to kiss you
On your lips or touch your fingertips
Because my heart is set
On somebody else
I can’t bring myself to let you in.
