[2013] 014/365: Owl Be Damned

February 23, 2013 by Mellie Dee 9 Comments

Oh my gosh … it’s only day 14 and I already feel drained with this 365. How do people do this?!

Just an F.Y.I. I’m trying out this whole watermark thing to see how it goes. I feel bad not doing it to my old posts but it’s never too late right?

Mallory, Samantha, and I bought a Groupon to:

Merlot 2 Masterpiece
12464 Memorial Drive
Houston, TX 77024
(832) 767-0855
www.merlot2masterpiece.com

Here is us with our masterpieces.

We picked owls … obviously.

And a close up of my owl.

In the end I wasn’t a big fan of this place. The 2-hour class ended up being almost 3-hours. The instructions weren’t very well dictated and I couldn’t even see what she was doing half the time. I understand that you paint it how YOU want it but If I have to stand up every few minutes to see where she is in the painting then that’s too much work done on my end. The paint didn’t stick well to the canvas either and they expected us to paint the background with a tiny brush. We weren’t too amused by it.

Will I come back here again? Yeah, I guess. I believe in giving second chances with this kind of stuff so hopefully next time it’ll be a better experience.

Afterward, Samantha and I went to go see Identity Thief at Alamo Drafthouse.

Worst service ever! The server did everything wrong. I guess it just wasn’t our day.

The movie was freaking hilarious though. I laughed A LOT! I know critics said it was good but uh … not everyone loves the same thing. That’s all I have to say.

It’s been a fun day seeing the Powerpuffs again.

Can’t wait for our next adventure!

[2013] 013/365: Packages & Mail

February 22, 2013 by Mellie Dee 4 Comments

Arrived home with two packages.

One which is in that sparkly pink pouch that many people know of. If you know what it is, I’m giving them another chance to redeem themselves. I’ll write a little something about it soon.

I also got doggie cookies for the doggies. A lot of it has been crushed. Bad packaging. Sad day. Doggies still enjoyed the one I split for them.

I also did a Mud Mask!! It’s not the kind you smear on, but the fabric kind. It felt very refreshing. Ahhh … loves!

I love lazy nights after such a long week at work.

But what was better was coming home with sissy already there! Happy Day!

Cannot wait for tomorrow night! I get to see my Powerpuff Girls! Yippee!

[2013] 012/365: Meats Galore

February 21, 2013 by Mellie Dee 3 Comments

Wow … these titles of mine are horrific.

My Project 365 is down below if that’s what you’re here for!

Just sharing thoughts on stuff I’ve read online:

  • Gas prices are already going to $4! And for the past few days, it’s been rising … soon enough it’ll be $5 a gallon! This isn’t helping my money matters. How will I travel to see my friends all over Texas?!
  • The Postal Service is apparently going to launch their clothing line in 2014 ever since they announced they will stop Saturday mail. I guess they really do need the money. But hey, no complaints here. I’m actually pretty excited to see what they come up with. They do have some pretty good clothing for any kind of weather.

  • One old school clothing is now coming back … overalls. I remember getting made fun of for wearing them but now they’re popular again … apparently. Who’s pulling their old ones out from the back of their closets?
  • There are some bad habits that are actually … good. Things like procrastination, coffee, napping, etc. Of course in moderation though. But now you have an explanation next time someone tells you it’s bad for you! Check out the video here!

Pradaria’s for lunch with the coworkers. Mmm … so much yummy, fatty meat.

The best thing I always eat there and LOVE is the cow tongue. I know some of y’all are cringing. But seriously, don’t knock it til you try it!

I went to Walgreens after work and I saw FOUR post office trucks. What’s up with that?

Too excited that it’s Friday tomorrow. This has been one of the toughest weeks I’ve had since working here. I’m so over it. Hello, weekend!

Think Good Thoughts!

[2013] 011/365: And Liebster Award Goes To …

February 20, 2013 by Mellie Dee 14 Comments

A few months ago, I took Mum to Whole Foods so she can see why I love quinoa so much. She got hooked and made her first batch today! Ah happy day. It was delicious. I was asked a few days ago what quinoa tastes like … but I have no clue how to describe it. Anyone have a proper description of the taste?

*********************************

liebsterblogaward

I’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award by a gorgeous girl who’s a Texan like me! Everyone meet Blake from Steady Three Sixty and send her some love! If I get nominated every time, best bet I’ll do them all the best I can. These are so fun to me!! Thanks, Blake!

RULES:
1. Link back to the person who nominated you
2. Write 11 facts about yourself once nominated
3. Answer 11 questions from the person who nominated you
4. Come up with 11 question for the 11 people you nominate

11 FACTS ABOUT MOI

Wall-E

  1. One of the best things ever created: sporks. I want a real stainless steal one that works REALLY well. I would use it ALL THE TIME. Remember Wall-E trying to figure out where to put his spork? Teehee so cute!
  2. I’ve been told I’m “too nice”. I like to believe everyone’s good and they don’t have some kind of ulterior motive. Sometimes that backfires. If you’re honest and loyal to me, I will be one of the bestest friends you’ll ever have. (Not to toot my own horn or anything.)
  3. Speaking of loyalty and honesty, I have trust issues. I’m very cautious in opening up. And once you break that trust, adios.
  4. I’ve only truly liked three wines and I don’t know the name to any of them. Therefore, I’m still on the hunt for my favorite wine.
  5. If someone’s talking and it’s a few words put together that reminds me of a song, I start singing or humming it.
  6. I’ve been told I’m picky with guys and that’s why I’m single. I’d like to believe that’s false. No one likes a fat girl.
  7. My all time favorite song is Scars by Papa Roach. I can relate to that song since it’s been out.
  8. One of my favorite pastimes is watching Chinese Drama. They’re sometimes cheesy and have bad actors but I love them. Keeps me in touch with where I came from.
  9. I dislike feet. Keep them to yourself.
  10. I wish I was a real singer/songwriter. I don’t care if I was sell-out-a-stadium famous. I’d just want to do it for the fun of it and meet amazing people along the way.
  11. I sleep with 7 pillows and three blankets. I don’t sleep ON all 7 pillows and definitely don’t cover myself with 3 blankets. I just like to be cradled by softness.

QUESTIONS FROM BLAKE

  1. Do you have tattoos? If so, what is your latest one? If not, would you ever get one? What would it be? I don’t have a tattoo, but it’ll be cool to get a sibling tattoo. Not sure what it’ll be though. If one for just myself, possibly a bow tattoo. I love bows. They’re so cute!
  2. Would you rather cut your hair to the tops of your ears or not shave your legs for six months? Not shave my legs. My leg hairs don’t grow out that fast. Plus, I can just wear pants/jeans! If I cut my hair that short, I’d look like a fat boy.
  3. What is your favorite month of the year? I’ve never really thought about it. I guess I’d say May since it’s my birthday month … and if I was still in college, it means summer break.
  4. If you could only drink water and one other liquid for the rest of your life, what other drink would you choose? Tea. Tea. Tea. Hot tea to be exact.
  5. What is one of your goals you hope to achieve by 2014? Pay off more than half my loans! Lose a few billion pounds. Check out my 2013 resolutions.
  6. What is a TV show that your parents didn’t let you watch when you were little, but you watched it anyway behind their backs? Tom & Jerry. Mum said it was to violent … which it kind of is if you think about it. It worked wonderfully … Brother and I would turn the sound off (since they never talk anyway).
  7. What does your dream house look like? I don’t really have a dream house. I think it’s because I’m not ready to settle down – no boyfriend or anything. Maybe a townhouse/apartment for now. But I would love to decorate it all pretty. Pinterest has been helping me out with that.
  8. If someone paid you ten dollars every day you left the house without any makeup on, how many days would you go out without makeup? I can go forever without makeup. I love makeup. I collect ‘em. But I’ll be fine never having to wear it. So I guess I’d be so rich. Who wants to pay me? I’ll definitely finish paying off my loans easily.
  9. Tell us a story about how you embarrassed yourself in front of your crush in high school. If you don’t have one to tell, describe what would have been the most embarrassing thing to happen. In Orchestra, we usually climb up the cabinets (used to put string instruments) to put up posters on the wall. We tend to jump off after we’re done … I slipped and hit my head on the adjacent cabinet and fell on my ass.
  10. If your job asked you to relocate to the middle of nowhere, would you happily go? Does the middle of nowhere imply there are no people or stores around? If so, probably not. But if it’s like Midland, Texas or something of that sort, yeah of course. They pay so much better too!
  11. What is your favorite thing about the summer season? When I was in college, I’d say the break. Being able to not go to school daily. Now I kind of wished I did. Hmm … Sundress. I don’t wear them much but they’re so cute.

QUESTIONS FOR MY NOMINEES

  1. If you can live anywhere in the world, where would that be and why?
  2. Describe your dream job.
  3. What is your favorite part of your body and why?
  4. If you can only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  5. What has been the most difficult thing you had to forgive?
  6. If you can have lunch with any 3 people past or present, who would it be and why? What would y’all eat?
  7. What’s your favorite TV show and/or movie?
  8. What’s something you’d tell your 16 year old self?
  9. If you can change ONE thing in your life, what would it be and why?
  10. Describe your most embarrassing moment.
  11. If anything, good or bad happened, who would you tell first?

MY NOMINEES

  1. Rachael @ Happy Healthy Runner
  2. Alex @ The Run Within
  3. Corrie Ann
  4. Brittany @ Blissful Britt
  5. Tiffany @ Dynamics of Happy
  6. Molly @ This Life Is Sparkling
  7. Sunnie @ Modern Girl Nutrition
  8. Sara @ Nourish and Flourish
  9. Alex @ Brian, Body, Because
  10. Kate @ Quarter Century Southern Living
  11. Jenny @ Muffins & Mocha

I understand if y’all don’t do this but it’d sure be nice to learn more about y’all!

[2013] 010/365: Lazy Movie Night

February 19, 2013 by Mellie Dee 7 Comments

PicsArt_1361319276739

What I’m currently doing. I just realized they’re both a movie about a girl going undercover. Bahaha Guess I really like stupid movies.

I wouldn’t trade having a lazy day after a hard day at work for anything. I’ve always been a homebody. I rather go to someone’s house and watch telly or hang out than go out and party. Some things never change.

Today at work, I realized how much people talk crap about each other but act like they love them in person. What happened to, “If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all”?

P.S. I wish I was a badass like these girls and got to go undercover or something. Who’s with me?

Short and sweet post. That’s what happens when you have lazy movie nights.

Peace & Love.
