2020 | Emmy’s 3rd Birthday

March 7, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Rizzo on the way to Dallas

Thursday’s work was literally meetings to where I felt I was dying. I tried so hard to leave early but I failed and ended up not leaving the office until 5pm. Once I got home, I jumped into the car with the my parents an June and headed to Dallas. Rizzo got his own seat this time. He usually stays in his cage. It was creepy how he kept staring at me the whole drive. He did manage to sleep for a bit though.

Wu Wei Din Chinese Cuisine | Plano, Texas | DoorDash

On the drive, I ordered Wu Wei Din Chinese Cuisine from DoorDash. This is just some of it. Delicious as usual.

Rizzo Emmy Collar

Everyone was still awake, along with Emmy when we got there. She stayed up with us until almost 2am as we all got ready for the party. We screamed happy birthday to her when the clock turned to midnight. She loved putting things around Rizzo’s neck and played with June most of the time until we were somewhat up to par with the decorations. As everyone slept, I signed on and worked for a bit and finished the reunion episode of Love is Blind.

2020 | Emmy’s 3rd Birthday | Mellie Dee & Emmy | Ukulele

When we woke up I gave Emmy her present. A ukulele. Sadly, I ordered black and the orange came instead but I wanted her to know I gave her this present so we opened it up, strummed a few chords, and packed it back up. Her actual one should come tomorrow but I won’t be here to teach her.

Manna Shabu | Plano, Texas | June

June and I went and ran some errands then had lunch. We decided on Manna Shabu for our own hot pot buffet. This was a pretty awesome place that gave us different Korean style pancakes to eat while we waited for our food to heat up. Great selection of foods to get and lots of different sauce choices which is rare at many hot pot places. Overall, great experience.

Zero Degrees | Plano, Texas | June

We walked around for a bit then went and picked up drinks from Zero Degrees. I also got June a garlic noodle in case there wasn’t anything for her to eat tonight.

2020 | Emmy's 3rd Birthday | Decorations

We played with Emmy for a bit and got her to take a nap. I worked for a bit, took a super quick nap and continued to help decorate. This is Emmy’s unamused look with the fact that she had to sit there, not able to eat the goodies on the table.

2020 | Emmy's 3rd Birthday | Food

So much food and sweets for the birthday girl. The cake is crazy awesome. Everything is edible!

2020 | Emmy's 3rd Birthday | Wand

Emmy and the other kids made wands. She loved hers and I can’t get over her dress!

2020 | Emmy’s 3rd Birthday | Mellie Dee & Jenny Soju

I finally got to see Jenny again and we knocked back a few shots with the group, took a selfie per usual and sent it over to Travis.

It’s been a long day. Tomorrow, we head back to Houston. Whomp.

2019 SIL’s Birthday

November 29, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Rizzo Sleeping with IPad

I wasn’t able to sleep all night so I stayed up playing games and watching telly while Rizzo slept like a log next to me. Moments like these make my heart happy.

Drywall with Brudda

We started putting up the rest of the drywall. I give props to all the renovators, housebuilders, and construction workers because it’s such hard work.

Ninja Ramen | Plano, Texas | Door Dash

We ordered from Ninja Ramen through Door Dash. Surprisingly good and Emmy even ate a lot! I would order from here again, especially because their level of spicy is on point. After the quick lunch, we were back at it renovating the attic. Then I took a shower, shopped online, took a quick cat nap, and played with Emmy while parents, Brudda and SIL were off buying a new car.

Gogiya | Plano, Texas

Dinner was at Gogiya to celebrate SIL’s birthday a day early. You could choose all you can eat for Korean BBQ or Hot Pot. We first wanted Korean BBQ until we realized it’d be an extra $14 per person if we wanted the good meats so we switched over to hot pot.

Gogiya | Plano, Texas | Salad Bar

They had a salad bar you can eat from. Mostly vegetables, seafood, and hot sauces. So freaking good. They could do better with their choice of sauces though.

Gogiya | Plano, Texas | Personal Hot Pot

Choosing hot pot was a good idea. Everyone had their own personal hot pot to cook from. I got full faster because I had my own pot where no one stole what I put in! I wish we could do something like this at home but it’d be super expensive.

June and I are currently watching a movie in the media room. Brudda, SIL, and I were going to go to Richard’s annual Friendsgiving but we were all super tired from a busy day, not to mention the drive back I have to make.

I cannot believe the holiday is already over. Luckily I have all my Fridays off for the rest of the year which means only a four day work week. Yippee!

Hotsome Chicken Eatery & Desserts | Houston, Texas

September 21, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

June and I went shopping and didn’t buy much. We enjoyed the hours spent walking though since it feels like we somewhat worked out. I need to get a new fitness tracker again because I know I’m not getting enough walks.

Hotsome Chicken Eatery & Dessert | Houston, Texas

We got hungry and decided to try Hotsome Chicken. It’s been on my list for a while and my goodness, their fried chicken was fried perfectly along with their french fries. We craved noodles so we ordered some too but we will try out the Korean Noodle House right next door when we crave Korean noodles again.

Starbucks | Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew

We went and got groceries as well and grabbed some Starbucks. This is definitely way better than Chick-fil-A of course and if hit the craving though it was too strong for me.

Astros Free Chick-fil-A Sandwich

Sissy reminded us of our free Chick-fil-A since the Astros hit the sign. Who the heck is Mossa? They obviously knew it was wrong since they typed red t-shirt. Haha too funny. June and I snagged ours and headed home for relaxation.

My head has been hurting the last few days so I haven’t been up to do much. Help!

Soju 101 | Meet Fresh | Katy, Texas

Delisha's Chicken & Dumplings | Free Work Gift Card

There was a flash floods warning but if you know me you’d know I’d still go in if it’s not bad at all. So I started off my day with some chicken and dumplings Delisha gave me yesterday. When I was walking through the cafe, the lady that says hi to me every time gave me a gift card with a small balance left. I used it to buy an iced coffee later in the day for a pick me up.

Everyone that went into the office left around the same time, early. I relaxed at home a bit then Rose came to pick me up with her daughters. We .Ade plans last second and it was a great time.

Soju 101 | Katy, Texas

We went to Soju 101 for dinner. I wouldn’t say it’s the best but it wasn’t bad. They were a little pricey too but we did end up buying the whole menu so … Yeah. I did soju tasting, 4 shots for $4.99. my favourite was the yogurt soju and blueberry soju. So dang good. I also had my first Korean rice cake tasting and I surprisingly liked it.

Meet Fresh | Katy, Texas

We went and got dessert after. They love it here. I have never been into this type of dessert though I will say I wouldn’t mind coming back for the almond pudding. That was probably the only good thing.

I cannot wait to see them again soon. It’s funny how Rose and I work in the same building and live a street over yet never see one another. I’ve told myself to make better sure to keep in touch. I’m horrible at it with everyone.

2019 Labour Day Weekend | Part 2

September 1, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2019 Labour Day Weekend | Breakfast of Leftovers

Sissy and BIL went and got Dunkin’ Donuts for breakfast for everyone. Brudda and I ate a random assortment of leftovers instead.

2019 Labour Day Weekend | Wi Wei Din Chinese Cuisine | Plano, Texas | Pork Ear, Spicy Wonton, Xiao Long Bao

A few hours later met up with Katie’s family at Wu Wei Din Chinese Cuisine. Pog ears, spicy shrimp and pork wontons, and Xiao Long Bao.

This is by far the best Xiao Long Bao I’ve had in Texas and was happy I got my fix. Still searching for the best in Texas though so if anyone has any suggestions, please share!

2019 Labour Day Weekend | TocoToco | Plano, Texas

We stopped and got boba tea. They have a jelly called crystal noodles and they’re much better than tapioca balls.

I love their decor as well. I thought the wall was little wooden balls but it’s made out of paper. What a cool idea!

2019 Labour Day Weekend | Rizzo and Pluto

We went home and all chilled. We watched some weird Chinese movie where a group of friends were helping one friend find breast milk to replace the one she accidentally gave to a client to drink. Some parts were hilarious but it wasn’t really worth the time spent.

2019 Labour Day Weekend | O.D. Wellness Massage and Reflexology

Soon enough Sissy, BIL, SIL, June and I left for reflexology massages at O.D. Wellness. They did a pretty good job in all. SIL went in her own room, Sissy and BIL in another while June and I had our own. They left the room a couple times totaling 6 minutes to get hot stones and hot towels. Overall good and relaxing.

2019 Labour Day Weekend | Pool Side Drinkin'

We went back to the house and chilled a bit. Everyone went to dinner with SIL’s parents while Sissy, BIL, Brudda and I went to the pool. We enjoyed a few rounds of passing a ball around and seeing who can swim fastest.

It’s pretty nice getting time with Brudda since he doesn’t live in Houston and we rarely get to see him. And when we do see him he’s always busy with Emmy and things around the house.

2019 Labour Day Weekend | Bols | Plano, Texas

We all went back and showered and enjoyed delivery from Bols. Japanese/Korean fusion. I have so much leftover for tomorrow.

All the kids are in the media room watching Spiderman Into the Verse while Sammi watches The Secret Life of Pets 2 on my iPad. Time to enjoy the rest of the movie. Night world!
