Day of Deliciousness

July 28, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

The Pho Shack To-Go

Scruffy, Ashy and I went over to Gordon’s to check out his house. We were out there for over an hour and our sweat was beading. We finally went and dropped Ashy off and picked up The Pho Shack for lunch at Grandma’s and Kenny’s where Sissy and BIL met us.

Fulbrook Ale Works | Richmond, Texas

Afterward Scruffy and I picked up Rizzo and headed to Fulbrook Ale Works where Sissy and BIL were already waiting. This used to be Texian Brewery which got bought out. Thank goodness because it was nasty. These beers are so much better.

After using majority of our tokens we hauled ass back to Scruffy’s because we were sweating like no other at the place. We played some board games before bidding them farewell.

2018 | 209/365 | Maharaja Bhog Vegetarian Indian Buffet

[2018] 209/365: Indian Vegetarian Buffet

Scruffy played video games while I opted for a nap before waking up to head to Maharaja Bhog for a vegetarian Indian buffet. We’ve never been here but I’ve always wanted to try this style since I was a kid seeing it on the telly.

It was a fun experience and we were surprised we both liked it. Now that we’ve tried everything there we know exactly what we liked and disliked which will make it easier for us in the future if we ever decide to come back.

We are back at his house now and he’ll most likely play some games with Blake while I shower, relax and watch my shows before bed.

Jollibee Experience Makes Me Wanting More

July 27, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Jollibee | Houston, Texas

Work was way too long because Noah and I had planned since the beginning of the week to get out of work early to have a meal at Jollibee!

Jollibee | Houston, Texas | Mascot

I don’t think anyone can understand just how excited I was to walk into this place. They have horrible reviews but mostly due to their service, having to wait for the chicken to fry.

I was mostly off the walls excited because during my whole college career, every Filipino person I knew that has had Jollibee praises it.

2018 | 208/365 | Jollibee | Houston, Texas | Food

[2018] 208/365: Jollibee Happiness

  • Original and Spicy Fried Chicken – spicy is the way to go so I’m glad I got six of those as opposed to the two originals. They come with gravy to dip the cluckers. I don’t care for the gravy. Next time I come I’m getting a bucket of Spicy Fried Chicken (six piece for ten dollars) … for myself.
  • Spaghetti with Hot Dog Bits – I’m pretty sure there was only two little bits of hot dog in there. Pretty ridiculous. Super sugary.
  • Hot Dog – nothing too special. I make hot dogs better than this.
  • Mashed Potatoes – they are mashed potatoes. Nothing to rave about. Not enough gravy in it so glad I had the free side of gravy to add to it.
  • Pineapple Soda – I’m not a fan of pineapples but was floored but how much I didn’t hate it. I’m sure it’s filled with sugar too.
  • Halo-Halo – we weren’t too happy about this. I actually meant to order the taro or pandan drink but failed and got this but was still excited. There was way too much crushed ice that melded into a giant ball of ice and just didn’t hit the spot for us.

They’ve been opened for a while but I’ve never had a chance to go until today so we practically ordered everything off the menu. We have to come back for the rest another day but spicy fried chicken is a must!

Total Wine | Sugar Land, Texas | Free Wine Glasses

I dropped Noah off at home and headed to Scruffy’s. We went to the new Total Wine in Sugar Land and both won free wine glasses. I’m saving them for my new house (whenever that is).

We went to PetsMart next door to get Rizzo a new bed for his cage but couldn’t find any for his tiny crate so we headed back to his house.

Sunglass Hut | New Ray Bans

If I could make another picture, picture of the day, this would be it!

We had plans to go get me new sunglasses and a dinner as date night but Ashy convinced us to stay for dinner so we decided to get my sunglasses before dinner.

My sunglasses were crushed somehow and I needed new ones due to all the driving I do from home to work now. I made a quick decision and walked out with these beauties.

Fuzzy's Tacos | Sugar Land, Texas

Scruffy was craving tacos so we snuck to a pre dinner. He ordered two tacos, one for me, and a beerita to share.

Luna and Ball

We went back to his house and had about an hour and a half until dinner. Luna slept next to me when she realized I wasn’t going to throw the ball. So cute.

Ashy's Adas

Ashy’s Adas with some okra I brought back from Brenham. It was actually super delicious. Everything was great though I wish there was a spicy level to the adas. Regardless, it was a great decision to stay home for dinner.

Scruffy has been playing video games with Blake over the net and I am enjoying their conversations. Too funny. I’m about to fall asleep. Bye everyone!

Corner Bakery | Houston, Texas

2018 | 207/365 | Corner Bakery Lunch

[2018] 207/365: Date with Interns

I went to lunch at Corner Bakery with Noah and Joel. I’m surprised that I actually liked the lunch! I had a free soup and dessert coupon as long as I buy a lunch so it was a big win! I shared the lemon squares because sweets aren’t really a big deal for me. I’m excited to eat here again because i get an employee discount too so it’s another win.

Scruffy came and took Rizzo after work. I’m excited to see him interact with Bailey. From the videos I see it seems that results to sniff her butt. Haha Silly boy.

Dumplings Bringing Back Memories

July 17, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2018 | 198/365 | Doozo Dumplings | Houston, Texas

[2018] 198/365: Memories

Ever since my return to downtown I’ve been searching for this dumpling place where my old mentor would take me once in a while and we would talk about life back in 2007. And today as I went with the kids to lunch at Doozo Dumplings, it hit me that I’ve found it. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I was that I was still here and that there was still so many customers till this day. I cannot wait to come back again and eat there dumplings. This is by far the best dumplings in downtown near work that I could find.

Ice Cream Party at Work

Later in the day there was an ice cream social at work to celebrate summer and since it was National Ice Cream Day on Sunday. They had vendors there with BlueBell ice cream with choices of a few flavors and many toppings to choose from. I opted for cookies and cream and lots of sprinkles and mini m&ms. I added the whipped cream, chocolate syrup and cherries for the picture and gladly gave those up to may coworker once I snapped my shot.

One Tree Hill and Rowing

Upon arriving home I got on my room machine and rowed while watching One Tree Hill. This is one of my favorite shows and wished I have someone to rewatch it with to share the tears I cry because this show gets me right in the feels.

Busy Saturday

Pollo Bravo | Houston, Texas | Causa Rellena and Pollo Quesadillas

Scruffy and I woke up this morning and ate my leftover pho and Chaurrasco’s for brunch. We got ready and headed to the rehab center where Mama is and paid her a visit since it’s been awhile since I last saw her. She’s up and walking with the help of her walker and brace but she’s doing great.

We stopped by World Market for literally a quick couple of minutes before we had to meet Caitlin, Rami, and Peyton at Pollo Bravo for lunch. Since we ate not too long ago, I opted for the Causa Rellena appetizer (way too dry) while Scruffy got the Pollo Quesadillas (not bad but if the salad was cassava fries it would of been perfect). Thomas met up up with us there and ordered to go.

The Teahouse | Houston, Texas

After lunch I went and got a Milk Tea with lychee jellies at The Teahouse. Bad mistake because I asked for less sugar and got a watered down drink where half was ice. It was so horrible but for five dollars I tried my best to suck down everything.

We then headed to Caitlin, Rami, and Peyton’s where we played a few card games before they left to return a mattress and Scruffy and I left for dinner.

2018 | 195/365 | Little Sheep Hot Pot

[2018] 195/365: Spicy Hot Pot

We weren’t too sure where to go but decided on hot pot at Little Sheep. Sissy and BIL met up with us at the spur of the moment and it was a fun last minute decision. After our bellies were full we said goodnight and headed home. I’m not too sure what we’re going to do now. I’m assuming telly and then bedtime.

I’m not ready for the weekend to end!
