2020 | Ethan’s One Month

February 1, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2020 Ethan's One Month | Ethan, Rizzo

Hi baby boy! Today we celebrated Ethan turning one month! I love this picture because Rizzo’s ears kind of looks like his. Rizzo is very interested every time he cries and always wants to be close by. I’m afraid he’ll attack but so far so good.

2020 Ethan's One Month | Lunch at Duck & Bao

We went to lunch at Duck & Bao. There’s a complete difference from the last time we went. Every definitely tastes way better and even Brudda and SIL agreed this is one of the best soup dumplings in Texas since the soup was very flavourful. I guess it depends who is in the kitchen because everything was on point today.

2020 Ethan's One Month | Zero Degrees

We all went home whole Sissy and BIL went and got us Boba from Zero Degrees. They played with Emmy for a bit before heading home. Everyone in our family took naps and woke up refreshed.

2020 Ethan's One Month | Mellie Dee & Emmy

We got ready and headed out the door to celebrate more of Ethan. Emmy and I had a photoshoot while we waited for everyone else to get into the car. She’s so silly and I’m sad she’s leaving tomorrow.

2020 Ethan's One Month | Dinner at Crown Seafood

We had dinner at the same place as Emmy’s, Crown Seafood. This isn’t even everything we ordered. We ran out of room on the table and had to merge dishes together. We all also took home majority of the foods!

2020 Ethan's One Month | Jenny, Mellie Dee, Ethan

Jenny and I got our photoshoot complete. We took some of the same ones when Emmy had hers! I was also very surprised at how chill he was as we made many attempts to get the right shots.

I’m pooped and sad that tomorrow is already Sunday.

Mala Szechuan and Bing Sui | Katy, Texas

JJ & Emmy on the Trampoline

JJ and Emmy finally got to play together again! They got to jump on trampolines and make pretend foods and ride in the mini car. They even got to enjoy some Tiff’s I brought over. Sadly I left work an hour early and ended up working practically the entire time j was over. Luckily, SIL was able to join and meet Mallory so whenever Emmy needed something I could continue working.

Mala Szechuan | Katy, Texas | Brudda, SIL, Jenny, Le, Jennifer, Jimmy

Since the Dallas folks, Brudda, SIL, Jenny, and Le were in town, they made plans to meet up with Jennifer and Jimmy and I got asked to tag along. I’m always down for food so I agreed. Ethan came along as well. We went to Mala Szechuan for dinner. We ordered a bottle of wine and a great big number of dishes. Everythimg is always so delicious here. My favourite is the crispy chicken!

Bing Sui | Katy, Texas | Brudda, SIL, Jenny, Le, Jennifer, Jimmy

We decided to get dessert at Bing Sui. Somi Somi is still my favourite ice cream and takiyaki combo. Bing Sui gave out some stale takiyakis and the ice cream wasn’t as memorable as Somi Somi. They did like their shaved ice dessert though.

After we were all stuffed we all headed to Jennifer’s new practice. Her opening is tomorrow and it was nice to see it before the renovations. We were there for a while getting some free consultation for our eyes and joking about other things.

I’m so pooped now and ready to unwind and go to sleep. Night, world.

2020 Chinese New Year Part 2

January 25, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Tetris Level 99

We celebrated Chinese New Year today by going to Grandma’s, meeting up with uncles, aunts, Sissy and BIL. I played Tetris and went up to level 99 before it ended saying Congratulations. I wanted to see how far I could go! Ugh. BIL and I played a few games of Bomberman before calling it quits since the CPU won’t EVERY SINGLE TIME. We’re horrible.

Duck and Bao | Katy, Texas

When we left June, Mum and I stopped by Duck and Bao since eating dumplings is good luck for the new year. When we were just about finished the waiter told us they had changed chefs. It explains why the food tasted different than our first time. It wasn’t as flavourful, not as much juices and you can see the hole at the top of the soup dumplings. It was a bummer. We still enjoyed our meal though. Hopefully, when they asked for my feedback, they take what I say to consideration to make it better.

I’ve been cleaning my office in preparation for the little ones to arrive! I’ve been getting in a lot of Netflix movies while doing so.i keep forgetting to clean and end up just watching. Maybe I’m getting old and I can’t multitask anymore …

Bamboo House | Houston, Texas

January 23, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I took the plunge and got tickets to San Diego! I will get to have a short and nice trip away from work for a few days. I can’t imagine the work I’ll have coming back but I’m trying to not overthink and just enjoy.

Bamboo House | Houston, Texas | NOV Lunch

Work has been crazy so I was happy I got to walk away for a New Year’s lunch with the NOV team. We ventured to Bamboo House for a legit meal. It’s always nice getting this time with them because if feels so natural. The duck was my favourite. I rarely get it with the tortilla type wrap and instead get the ball so it was a nice change, not as heavy as it would have been if it was with the bao.

Cafe Del Sol | Katy, Texas

After putting out a few fires I headed to Mallory’s. Beth was also over so we hung out and I played with JJ a bit before we ordered dinner from DoorDash and opened a wine. A much needed wine after a rough week.

Mallory and I are currently trying to figure out what show to watch.

Goodbye, PS4

January 11, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Goodbye PS4

Factory resetting my PS4 to sell. I haven’t used it since Scruffy and I broke up. I remember buying a new car and a PS4 when I knew I was going to get laid off soon which I wrote about in a post.

I told everyone it was to spend more time with BIL and sometimes Sissy but it was truthfully so that I can spend time with Scruffy. I knew he played a lot of video games so I wanted to spend time with him doing something he loved.

In the beginning, we’d play a bit but it ended up just me usually playing by myself or using it to watch telly since he wasn’t super interested in playing with me no matter how much I asked him to pick a game we can both play. I guess sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can never be a part of someone’s life if they won’t let you in completely.

Goodbye, PS4. You gave me some great memories. Maybe one day, I’ll have someone who’ll want to play PS5 with me. Until then, it’s me and my Switch.

Working from Home | Rizzo & 2020 Goals

Yesterday I had the pleasure of working from home. Rizzo’s head is so tiny next to that giant paper of goals. I’m starting to feel like the assistant to the boss. I mean, I love scheduling meetings and running them, okay that’s a lie, I hate meetings. But I don’t mind the work as it helps me be a stronger speaker but it’s all so nervewracking when everyone thinks you’re “in charge” when you shouldn’t be. Luckily the boss set them straight that I was tasked so whatever I said kinda goes.

Rizzo Inching Towards My Side of the Bed

I’d look over to this sleeping beauty who put himself under the blanket, head on the pillow. I also kept seeing him slowly inching towards my side of the bed. He looks so peaceful. I keep having thoughts of how I’d be if he was gone from my life. Does anyone else get those moments with their pets or kids? Is that weird?

Happy Lamb Hot Pot | Houston, Texas | Sissy, BIL, Dad, & June

Today, June, Dad and I met Sissy and BIL at Happy Lamb Hot Pot. June and I have sworn off eating anything else the rest of the day because even though we didn’t eat a whole lot, it was still way more than what we’re used to lately.

The weekend’s almost over. I’m not ready!
