Tandoori Grill | Katy, Texas

March 14, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Tandoori Grill | Katy, Texas

I finally found an Indian place comparable to Bombay Grill that delivers, Tandoori Grill. Friday, for lunch, I ordered lamb samosas, chicken vindaloo, chana masala, aloo Gobi, garlic naan and papadum. Their spice level is actually not bad and actually have spicer options than what I chose. This place has better naan and they don’t skimp out on the rice unlike Bombay Grill so that’s a big plus!

Simply 7 Jalapeno Lentil Chips

With Coronavirus panic I joked I am fine as long as I got one of my favourite snacks, lentil chips. Winner here as Whole Foods delivered a couple bags of this as well as popcorn.

Coronavirus Hot Pot

June has been craving hot pot so we went and bought a bunch of vegetables today and had a small party with just us gals. It’s a much simpler meal than our usual hot pot and we were perfectly okay with it.

Sleepy Rizzo Cuddles

I had plans today but other than Rocky’s liver check the rest got cancelled. I’m not angry though since I got to cuddle this little baby practically all day. He rarely sleeps on me like this so I had to cherish it. He also needs a haircut.

What have you been binging on? I need recommendations since I’ve watched a lot and need new ones since I’ll be working from home starting Monday.

2020 | Emmy’s 3rd Birthday

March 7, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Rizzo on the way to Dallas

Thursday’s work was literally meetings to where I felt I was dying. I tried so hard to leave early but I failed and ended up not leaving the office until 5pm. Once I got home, I jumped into the car with the my parents an June and headed to Dallas. Rizzo got his own seat this time. He usually stays in his cage. It was creepy how he kept staring at me the whole drive. He did manage to sleep for a bit though.

Wu Wei Din Chinese Cuisine | Plano, Texas | DoorDash

On the drive, I ordered Wu Wei Din Chinese Cuisine from DoorDash. This is just some of it. Delicious as usual.

Rizzo Emmy Collar

Everyone was still awake, along with Emmy when we got there. She stayed up with us until almost 2am as we all got ready for the party. We screamed happy birthday to her when the clock turned to midnight. She loved putting things around Rizzo’s neck and played with June most of the time until we were somewhat up to par with the decorations. As everyone slept, I signed on and worked for a bit and finished the reunion episode of Love is Blind.

2020 | Emmy’s 3rd Birthday | Mellie Dee & Emmy | Ukulele

When we woke up I gave Emmy her present. A ukulele. Sadly, I ordered black and the orange came instead but I wanted her to know I gave her this present so we opened it up, strummed a few chords, and packed it back up. Her actual one should come tomorrow but I won’t be here to teach her.

Manna Shabu | Plano, Texas | June

June and I went and ran some errands then had lunch. We decided on Manna Shabu for our own hot pot buffet. This was a pretty awesome place that gave us different Korean style pancakes to eat while we waited for our food to heat up. Great selection of foods to get and lots of different sauce choices which is rare at many hot pot places. Overall, great experience.

Zero Degrees | Plano, Texas | June

We walked around for a bit then went and picked up drinks from Zero Degrees. I also got June a garlic noodle in case there wasn’t anything for her to eat tonight.

2020 | Emmy's 3rd Birthday | Decorations

We played with Emmy for a bit and got her to take a nap. I worked for a bit, took a super quick nap and continued to help decorate. This is Emmy’s unamused look with the fact that she had to sit there, not able to eat the goodies on the table.

2020 | Emmy's 3rd Birthday | Food

So much food and sweets for the birthday girl. The cake is crazy awesome. Everything is edible!

2020 | Emmy's 3rd Birthday | Wand

Emmy and the other kids made wands. She loved hers and I can’t get over her dress!

2020 | Emmy’s 3rd Birthday | Mellie Dee & Jenny Soju

I finally got to see Jenny again and we knocked back a few shots with the group, took a selfie per usual and sent it over to Travis.

It’s been a long day. Tomorrow, we head back to Houston. Whomp.

El Kourmet | Panntea | Katy, Texas

February 29, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Salim always joked about having to pack an overnight bag and get a hotel whenever he makes a trip to visit me in Katy.

He committed to making that drive today and noticed just how far I trek every time I used to go out there for work, happy hours with ex-coworkers, or any hangouts with him I did.

He said he’ll do better in making our hangouts more equal but we’ll see it to believe it.

El Kourmet | Katy, Texas | Salim

He came to my house and I drove us to El Kourmet. He’s from Venezuela and I was told by my Venezuelan friends, this was the best. We ordered arepas and tequenos. Tequenos are like mozzarella sticks, but better. And the arepas were so freaking delicious. I want to come back and try the empanadas. He also ordered Maltin soda. Thankful we only got one since it was so sweet. It reminded him of home so I guess it did it’s thing.

We stopped by at Mallory’s to drop off her keys she left in my car. JJ was so dang sweet. He jumped into my arms and gave me so many kisses.

Panntea | Katy, Texas | Salim

Salim and I went on our merry way to our next destination for boba which has become a thing of tradition everytime we hangout. I chose Panntea since I’ve never been and if didn’t dissapoint. He got the regular Royal Milk Tea and I got the Matcha Brown Sugar Milk Tea. He liked mine more than his and I’d have to agree. We also ordered spicy popcorn chicken and a eel onigiri. both pretty good but nothing to rave about.

We went to HMart after hoping to find durian for him to try. He said he’s smelled it before and thought it smelled really good. We didn’t find the durian but found jackfruit and now that he things about it, he thinks the person trying to sell him durian lied and it was actually jackfruit.

When we bid our farewells, we talked about having to go back to El Kourmet for empanadas, get Crawfish, and durian. Not sure when our next hangout is but I’m already ready to eat!

Best Steak I've Ever Made

I took a nice nap and did some side projects before I made dinner. Mum got me a nice piece of steak and I paired it with roasted asparagus and broccoli. This is probably one of the best steaks I’ve ever made. Getting better every time!

More side projects and Gotham before bed. Night world!

Hot Pot at Amelia’s

February 7, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Today was a pretty great and relaxing day. I took Dad to the doctor, got a new car battery and spent the rest of the day doing practically nothing.

Hot Pot | Amelia, Chase, Juhi, Vijay, Yang, Mary, Miao, Daniel, Cameron, Caleb

I went over to Amelia’s to prep for hot pot night with her while we caught up. It was with some people from my old team and some of their significant others (Amelia, Chase, Juhi, Vijay, Yang, Mary, Miao, Daniel, Cameron and Caleb). It was so bizarre because Yang and Mary used to go to high school with me. They were only a year and two years younger than me!

Before hot pot, I brought my grill with me and we made some boneless galbi which everyone seemed to love so yay!!

Secret Hitler and Werewolf Board Games | Amelia, Chase, Juhi, Vijay, Yang, Mary, Daniel, Cameron, Caleb

After talking for a long while we started to clean up and went upstairs for board games that Daniel brought. It was a lot of fun and we played so many rounds that by the time I got home, it was almost one am.

I’m pooped and ready for Saturday! It’s going to be a great day to … So I hope.

Tasty Point | Katy, Texas

February 6, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Dairy Queen Steak Fingers

Yesterday after work I met up with Odell at Next Door Lounge. We threw back a couple of drinks and talked about random things. After awhile we bid our farewells. I saw a Dairy Queen and had to stop by. I ordered the steak fingers which brought back a lot of memories. I forgot how delicious they tasted. The fries, not so much. I wonder if they sell these in the freezer aisles …

Indian Food with Reservoir Engineers

Today, I finally got my Indian fix. I don’t get much of that nowadays so even though it’s not at my favourite Indian restaurant, I’ll take it anyway I get.

Work has been splendid all week. I have been the most successful in ticking off my tasks without my boss around stressing me out. I don’t think that I’ve ever felt so completed with my tasks as I did this week and I’m not sure if I’ll ever get it again. Here’s to hoping.

Tasty Point | Katy, Texas | Rose

Rose came and picked me up and we went to Tasty Point. It’s actually one of my newest favourite places with all the choices they have. We ordered too much as usual.

For appetizers, in the order of my most favourite to not, the pig ears, stinky tofu, super long fries. I’d probably only order the pig ears again.

As for the main entrees we got the black garlic oil ramen and porchini hot pot. I believe that’s what they are called. Both hit the spot since it’s so cold out but I’d probably stick with the hot pot next time.

We were going to go somewhere else for dessert but after much debate we decided to stay where we were. Instead of their plethora of dessert choices, we both ordered drinks to go instead.

Boba Ice Cream & Knitting with Rose

We stopped by Walgreens so I could buy more hand sanitizer then went over to her house for the main reason we were meeting up. To teach her how to knit. After a couple of hours, she finally got it down. She is still having issues holding on too tight with her right but other than that, practice makes perfect!

Kathrine was nice enough to hang out with us as we were knitting and she offered me boba ice cream. How crazy right? You’d think the boba would be hard but they weren’t and Rose said she read that the balls were made differently. She says there’s a taro flavour as well which I really want to try now. Super expensive for four but it’s now on my list of wants.

No work tomorrow means relaxation at its finest. Going to watch one of my many shows until I fall asleep. Night world!
