You know those crazy people that go and stand in line opening night and wait for a few hours before they’re seated so they can pick the “best seat” in the theater? Yeah, I’m not one of those people. I don’t really do those crazy opening nights type of deals. I usually wait until the theater is about to take it off the big screen or until it comes out on DVD or something because crowds.
But it was different this time around because Deadpool. I’ve been waiting for this movie since before they even talked about making a movie. And if you don’t know who Deadpool is, I don’t know if we can be friends anymore.
People ask me who he is. Apparently, he’s not very well known. Then they ask why he’s my favourite. Because I suck at video games but love playing, when games had him in it, I would choose him. He could heal on his own so I wouldn’t die as fast. And because of that I Googled him and found out he’s a freaking badass but a good person and super romantic at heart. But overall, I fell in love with his humor and sarcasm. And ever since then I was in love … with a comic book character.
Back in the beginning of January, there was a Groupon for Alamo Drafthouse and saw I could reserve my seats for Deadpool. I was surprised to find that though the movie doesn’t come out until midnight on the 12th, they were having some earlier showings on the 11th. Um … hello, duh. And since then, I’ve been patiently counting down the days.
People asked why I’d pick row 1 thinking it’s right at the front … to clear that up, it’s actually like the third from the back. Best seats ever, k? Cool.
Yesterday we finally made our way to the theater and I don’t think anyone would believe me if I told them I had chills from all the excitement that I couldn’t hold in especially because …
… when we arrived, we saw there were people dressed up as Deadpool and my heart leaped. How lame is that?
Like “Hello, Melissa … Deadpool is only fictional.”
Like “Duh, I know.”
So if you wanna get with me, I guess all you have to do is dress up like Deadpool and talk and do silly, stupid, crazy things and I’ll probably fall madly in love with you.
At first I thought these people just really love Deadpool but soon realized, Alamo Drafthouse hired them to pass out masks where on the back of it was a promotion for chimichangas, because what else!
Best. Movie. Ever.
But I’m biased. Obviously. And I’m certain if you don’t know anything about him and watched the movie, you’d agree. You’ll be biased like me.
I don’t think I’m ruining anything by telling you to stay until after the credits.
Gahhhh … I promise you’ll be patiently waiting for the next one just like me.
