2017 Asia Trip | Day 6

January 11, 2017 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Sissy tried the ATM machine with the pin code they sent to BIL. And guess what! It was always the same pin that she probably entered wrong. Lameeeee.

McDonald's Breakfast | Hong Kong

Breakfast in Hong Kong is always different than back home. I’ve heard China is breaking off from McDonald’s which means it wont be authentic. Bleugh!!!!

Golden Orange Tree | Hong Kong

We walked around and bought some treats as souvenirs. Then we all headed back home to put it down and sit in front of the fan since it was so hot out. While walking we noticed so many of the decorations for Chinese new year keep popping up. So pretty!

2017 Vincent & Rachel Present

Rachel finally made it home and came in with gifts to say thanks from her and Vincent for coming to their wedding.

Pizza Express | Hong Kong | Food

We walked to share some pizza. Pizza here is healthier; it is not as greasy and oily as back home but still not a big fan.

The rest of the day went to shopping. In Hong Kong, I’m considered to have big feet so I was lucky enough to find one that fit since the other ones killed me with blisters.

2017 Home Cooked Dinner Time

We all went home for dinner with PoPo. Piegons!!!!! Mmm .. so dang good. Sissy and I then packed and are now heading off to bed. Flying out soon!!! Eeeeep!

Cafe de Coral | Hong Kong | Breakfast

Vincent was running late so the parents, Kathy, Sissy and I went to breakfast at Cafe de Coral where I split a meal with Sissy.

Hong Kong Landscape 3

We walked around for a short period before meeting up with Vincent to ride the subway towards Lamma Island.

Hong Kong to Cheung Chau Ferry

Once we arrived we realized we had just missed the ferry that takes us to Lamma Island. Since we had to wait another hour for the next one we decided to go to Cheung Chau instead.

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Ferry Docking

On the ferry we talked about various things before the majority fell asleep.

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Ferry Docked

Soon enough we were docked.

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Arrival

Hello, Cheung Chau.

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Boats & Bikes

There were so many bikes and boats! Everything looked pretty much the same … how does anyone know which one is theirs?

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Original Building

We started walking around and saw a historic building that is being preserved.

Love Locks | Cheung Chau, Hong Kong

And we ran across Love Locks where couples lock in their love and hope it lasts.

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Drying Shrimp

This old man was shelling and deveining shrimp before laying them out to dry. He had so much more on the other side of him!

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Fish Balls

Mum was on the search for jumbo fish balls she had when we was younger.

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Regular Jumbo Fish Balls

And when she finally found the regular ones she was ecstatic.

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Curried Jumbo Fish Balls

Then she walked to the next stall and saw curried balls and she went crazy.

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Egg Waffles

Sissy, on the other hand, was all up in that egg waffle.

Seafood Restaurant | Cheung Chau, Hong Kong

We walked towards a seafood restaurant for lunch by the water.

Seafood Restaurant | Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Fresh Seafood

All their seafood is fresh and won’t be picked until you order.

Seafood Restaurant | Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Food

I won’t ever come back to this restaurant since the food was sub par but happy I got to eat like the people I see on the telly.

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Police Boat

As we ate I noticed a police boat. How cute is that?!?!

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong | Departure

We walked around and decided it was time to go back to mainland Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club | Hong Kong

A ferry ride later we landed in The Hong Kong Jockey Club where the parents and Kathy bought their tickets on horse races.

Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong | Street

Vincent showed us Lan Kwai Fong street, the street of drinking and partying. We have never gotten to witness it firsthand. Hopefully one day!

Shanghi Popo | Hong Kong | Dumplings

We rode the subway back, close to home, to have dinner of dumplings at Shanghai Popo.

Hot Star | Hong Kong | Sweet Potato Fries & Fried Chicken

And a small snack after dinner of fried chicken and sweet potato fries.

Mango Juice | Hong Kong

And a mango juice type deal. I’m not a lover of mangoes so I thought the flavour was strong and too sweet while everyone else felt the opposite and believed they added water to dilute the juice.

Hong Kong Shopping 4

We walked to another mall center to check out a couple more stores. Around this time was when I realized my feet were killing me. I bought a foot cushion thing from Modern House and stuck it in my shoe but it didn’t do much since the blisters had already formed. TMI?

Pet Store | Hong Kong | Pomeranian

As we headed home, we walked by the pet store and saw little puppies for sale. $1000 give or take. Yikes.

ADOPT. DON’T SHOP!

Hong Kong | Leftovers & Drinks

PoPo heated back the vegetarian leftovers for Sissy and I to eat for breakfast while my parents and Kathy went out for breakfast and delivered us our drink of choice.

Hong Kong Shopping 3

We then walked to the nearest mall and shopped forever for souvenirs. FOREVER … until we received Vincent’s and Rachel’s phone call stating they were soon to be home.

Chinese Celebrities at Hong Kong Mall

As we were leaving, we noticed a cluster of people cheering and holding signs. I thank my lucky stars I am tall enough to get these shots. I actually knew some of the celebrities. First sighting ever. Eeep!!

Chinese Wedding Tradition | Mini Roasted Pig

Once we got back home and met up with the newlyweds we ate mini roasted pig, a Chinese wedding tradition.

Hong Kong Subway

After hanging out for a bit we rode a subway to our next destination.

Hello Kitty Cafe | Hong Kong

Hello Kitty Cafe.

Hello Kitty Cafe | Hong Kong | Decorations

They had some killer decorations!

Hello Kitty Cafe | Hong Kong | Dim Sum

And I only picked this place for the cute decorated dim sum.

Hello Kitty Cafe | Hong Kong | Mellie Dee & Dim Sum

The reviews I read stated that the food wasn’t that great because it was more for the touristy experience. Although they did win an award, I would have to agree. It was still fun though!

ICreameria Dolce Giapponese | Hong Kong

Vincent and Sissy really wanted ice cream so we stopped by iCreameria Dolce Giapponese.

ICreameria Dolce Giapponese | Hong Kong | Ice Cream

Half cream. Half green tea. I split with Sissy but I about died. So sweet yet so refreshing because it was so hot out.

Hong Kong Clock Tower

After we rested a bit, we started on our journey bumping into this clock tower.

Hong Kong Landscape & Sea

We were trying to get to the museum to look at celebrity hand prints and statues but they were remodeling. I didn’t mind much because even though it was foggy, the view was still breathtaking.

Hong Kong Landscape & Sea 2

When I walked a bit farther certain areas were not foggy and I was able to take this shot.

Polar Icecap Tribute | Hong Kong

We did get to see the Polar Icecap statue to remind others about global warming.

Postcard Wishes | Hong Kong

As well as postcards among postcards of wishes people have written.

Hong Kong Traffic & Street

We walked along and crossed so many streets that if you asked me to take you I wouldn’t know where to go.

Hong Kong Shopping 2

We walked into a few stores but didn’t buy much. I definitely got my steps in today!

Sex Shop & Happy Endings | Hong Kong

As we were walking I pointed the sex shop out to Sissy and she commented that the massage place next door is a happy ending type. Who knows but that is the first sex shop I have seen in Hong Kong.

Grandpa Thai Food | Chicken Yellow Curry & Milk Tea

We received word that Dicky and Helen have arrived home so we went home to pick them and PoPo up for dinner at a Thai restaurant. I had to share my meal and the rest was packed home for Dicky. This was also when I taught them the world of Snapchat and filters.

Hong Kong Mall | Chinese New Year Decorations

As we were heading home we saw that the Chinese New Year decorations were up. I hope one day I get to celebrate Chinese New Year in Hong Kong. It’s been forever.

So much laughter makes my heart so happy. Family first.

Hong Kong MX Breakfast

Breakfast of champions at MX with the parents and Sissy. They give you so much for the morning that I could not even finish it!

Hong Kong Taxi & Bus

Then we headed to the buses on a super long ride and switched to a taxi to meet Grand-Uncle Number 10 and his wife. I accidentally flipped the pictures but I’m too lazy to fix it. After visiting them we headed back home.

Hong Kong Citywalk

The parents headed straight home while Sissy and I went into Citywalk to shop for a black head mask.

Garden Lemon Mini Swiss Roll

We went into various stores and after successfully finding one we believe is good enough at SaSa, we headed home and split a lemon cake.

Hong Kong Shopping

Soon after PoPo and Kathy came home and we reminisced some more about the wedding before heading out to shop and walk around.

Hong Kong Vegetarian Meal

We met up with Vincent and Rachel for dinner – a vegetarian restaurant just for Sissy. All the foods were plant or soy based and they try making them look like real meat.

Then it was back home to watch the wedding videos and pictures and more story time before Vincent and Rachel headed home.

Pig Nose Clear Blackhead Masks

Sissy and I ripped open our black head 3 step masks. Over a little over an hour later we completed the three steps which means bed time is around the corner.

We will be seeing Vincent and Rachel again tomorrow and hopefully Dickie and his wife. Fingers crossed.

Vincent & Rachel Wedding | Chinese Decorations

We all woke up super early since today was Vincent’s and Rachel’s wedding day.

Soymilk Man | Breakfast

The parents, Sissy, and I went to breakfast at a little restaurant then Sissy, Dad, and I went to the ATM to try another pin for the debit card to see if it’ll work. It failed again. Whomp.

Vincent & Rachel Wedding | Gold Bangles

We went home and got ready for the tea ceremony part of the wedding. The groom’s side of the family was already present and then the groom shows up with the bride, bridesmaid, and groomsmen. That is Rachel with some of her gold jewelry. It is a Chinese tradition to give gold bangles.

Vincent & Rachel Wedding | The First Chinese Cuisine

After tea we went to eat dim sum for lunch then went home to try to take a nap. I was too excited for a nap so I read instead.

Vincent & Rachel Wedding | Groomsmen Drivers

Then we got ready in our more formal nighttime attire, waited for the groomsmen to pick us up with their cars and headed to the Regal Kowloon Hotel.

Vincent & Rachel Wedding | Backdrop

We took pictures, many, many pictures in front of this backdrop and ate.

Vincent & Rachel Wedding | Reception Food

The food never stopped coming. We were stuffed and had to pack some home.

Vincent & Rachel Wedding | Marraige Certification

She walked down the aisle and they signed their papers. The slideshow made us all cry but the speeches killed us. They were short and simple but the words they spoke were so heartfelt and touching.

Hong Kong Night Streets

After many hours, the groomsmen took us all home. I applaud them since they have been up since five in the morning and it was already almost twelve at night when we left.

Vincent & Rachel Wedding | Front Desk

We came home reminiscing about the speeches and got ready for bed. We are all so tired that we made a pack to sleep in and leave each other alone tomorrow so good night world!
