January 2nd

Pinot’s Palette with Mallory & Samantha. Nothing like the original but I still love it!

This is also the day were Rizzo got knocked over mid poop because of the wind. TMI, I know.

January 3rd

Made my last payment for my six school loans! Took me a year and a month! Debt free!!

Celebrated by Hot Pot! Now I just want to buy every thing. Yikes!

January 5th

Got to see Leah M. when she came into town to visit Mallory and John! This makes it the 3rd time we’ve met/seen each other. Weird how you can still talk to someone like they never left when you just met them!

Ordered an Asus Transformer Pad! It’s a cheap tablet so hopefully it holds up!

January 7th

Taste of Texas to say goodbye to Andrew D. & Carla A. who are moving to Seattle. And to Christopher D. who’s moving to Hawaii. I probably won’t ever see them again so I made an effort to go no matter how gross I felt from a long day at work. You can totally see it in the picture. Can’t believe I’m putting it online …

January 8th

When everyone’s ideas come together and become something that will help the future of your company. Work high! And it didn’t stop there. Worked on Mallory & John’s “Save the Dates” and didn’t even realize the time! When you’re having fun, time sure flies!

January 9th

My tablet arrived! But am waiting it to charge before I play with it! So excited! Also took Rizzo to Mallory’s house. Mallory & John got a new puppy, Lacy, and we wanted them to be best friends! Samantha was there as well and we all ate dinner and watched reality telly together while the pups played. Rizzo is knocked out now. Thanks, Lacy!\

Now it’s time for me to unwind and sleep.

2014 New Year Resolutions

2013 New Year Resolution Recap:

  • Lose 25+ lbs or at least some weight.

Lost 11 lbs and counting!

  • Live healthier. Eating …. working out. Yah know. Same old same old.

Right on track. Though the working out got slacked when Rizzo came into my life.

  • PR on my 5k even if it is just one minute.

Nope.

  • Be a better blogger by not slacking off as much and reaching out more.

Committed by getting my own domain and changing my blog up. Decided to let got for a bit because I was too consumed. I hope now that it’s a new year, I’ll be back and at ‘em.

  • Dress better because I look like a grandma when I’m at work.

Getting better … takes time!

  • Hello over humongous pores! I need to better my skin routine.

Slowly … so so slowly.

  • As much as I love being one of the guys I love being a girl. I just have to be less lazy and just be more like a girl.

Still waiting for the girl to come out.

So now we move on to 2014 Resolutions.

  • Continue to lose weight.
  • Never give up on blogging.
  • Volunteer more.
  • Stay in touch with friends. Especially those getting married.
  • Cross a few more things off my Bucket List!

I’m not sure what else. Making resolutions are getting harder as you get older.

Meet Rizzo

On Friday (November 29th), a turn of events led us to CAP (Citizens for Animal Protection). A 3.4 pound, tan, male terrier-mixed puppy (8 weeks old) was staring at us quivering. All four of his paws are white which makes it look as if he’s wearing socks!

Next thing I know, I’m signing adoption papers. I’ve been looking for my little baby for years but always refrained. I’m not sure what made me take the plunge for this little guy.

That night during dinner, we video chatted with Sissy and BIL about names. It got a little silly.

Sunday night (December 1st) after he got neutered, he arrived home.

Blogosphere, Meet Rizzo (or as my parents say it, Rissue or Rizsoo).

It’s only been three nights and three days thus far but he seems to be doing pretty well. I’m sure this blog will now be ALL ABOUT RIZZO. I hope that won’t be a problem.

11/15 – San Antonio for the FTK Fashion Out Cancer Show. Surprisingly I didn’t take any pictures butttt … 11/16 – Cooked dinner and watched a movie with Gary, Andy, and Patricia.

11/22 – Package filled with love from one of the FTK Families. The momma and all three of her kids wrote a little something and included a dream catcher.

Mum got a box of chocolate covered strawberries in the mail for her birthday (from Tammy). So delicious!

11/23 – Brother’s day of birth but since he didn’t come down, we decided to celebrate Mum’s birthday (which is on the 25th) early at Pappadeaux.

11/24 – Ryland’s birthday. Superhero theme! Ryland’s Uncle is actually a friend of mine from high school. It was great getting to catch up with him and hear all he’s accomplished.

11/26 – The Hunger Games: Catching Fire with Mallory at Alamo Drafthouse … Ladies Night = cheaper tickets. I cried pretty much throughout the movie. Sorry, Mallory.

11/28 – Ate our simple Thanksgiving dinner with the family while video chatting with Sissy and BIL like they were still in the same place with us. Thank you, modern day technology.

11/29 – Played Mahjong with the family. I won $8 with the help of Mum.

11/30 – Casey Donahew Band concert at Mo’s Place with Mallory, Samantha, Sarah, and Lyndsey (not pictured).

Child of Immigrants

If you don’t already know of the site, Humans of New York (HONY), then you’re missing out.

The photographer, Brandon Stanton, starting taking pictures of random people in the city of New York for a “exhaustive catalogue of the city’s inhabitants”. But through his journey, he noticed the conversations he had with them and the quotes and stories began. He even ended up publishing a book with the colorful pictures and stories which you can buy here (cheapest place I know).

I’ve been reading the blog for a while and have learned some things just by reading other people’s advice but the one below is one that resonated with me the most so far.
