2019 SIL’s Birthday

November 29, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Rizzo Sleeping with IPad

I wasn’t able to sleep all night so I stayed up playing games and watching telly while Rizzo slept like a log next to me. Moments like these make my heart happy.

Drywall with Brudda

We started putting up the rest of the drywall. I give props to all the renovators, housebuilders, and construction workers because it’s such hard work.

Ninja Ramen | Plano, Texas | Door Dash

We ordered from Ninja Ramen through Door Dash. Surprisingly good and Emmy even ate a lot! I would order from here again, especially because their level of spicy is on point. After the quick lunch, we were back at it renovating the attic. Then I took a shower, shopped online, took a quick cat nap, and played with Emmy while parents, Brudda and SIL were off buying a new car.

Gogiya | Plano, Texas

Dinner was at Gogiya to celebrate SIL’s birthday a day early. You could choose all you can eat for Korean BBQ or Hot Pot. We first wanted Korean BBQ until we realized it’d be an extra $14 per person if we wanted the good meats so we switched over to hot pot.

Gogiya | Plano, Texas | Salad Bar

They had a salad bar you can eat from. Mostly vegetables, seafood, and hot sauces. So freaking good. They could do better with their choice of sauces though.

Gogiya | Plano, Texas | Personal Hot Pot

Choosing hot pot was a good idea. Everyone had their own personal hot pot to cook from. I got full faster because I had my own pot where no one stole what I put in! I wish we could do something like this at home but it’d be super expensive.

June and I are currently watching a movie in the media room. Brudda, SIL, and I were going to go to Richard’s annual Friendsgiving but we were all super tired from a busy day, not to mention the drive back I have to make.

I cannot believe the holiday is already over. Luckily I have all my Fridays off for the rest of the year which means only a four day work week. Yippee!

2019 | Thanksgiving in Dallas

November 28, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

McDonald's with Emmy and SIL

We got into Dallas last night. Mostly to drop off Emmy but to also spend Thanksgiving together. Mum and June went and got us breakfast at McDonald’s – first time Mum’s ever drove in Dallas! I shared above with Emmy and SIL.

Attic Remodel with Brudda and Dad

Then Brudda put me to work in the attic with Dad. He’s transforming his two attics into storage rooms so we’ve been putting in drywall. I worked for a good while before they were able to handle it themselves but there is still a lot of work to do for tomorrow.

Cris and John Vietnamese Street Food | Dallas, Texas

They kept working but the rest of us went to Cris and John Vietnamese Street Food for lunch. They had such cute decor and their Horchata was on point. It’s a fusion between Vietnamese and Mexican.

We ordered almost everything off the menu. I won’t say everything was great but I’d come back for the pho.

Patti La Belle Sweet Potato Pie

We even stopped by Wal-Mart because I really craved the sweet potato pie from last year at Richard’s Thanksgiving. They sell the mini version as well and I found it so freaking adorable. I was told to put it back down though and stick with the big one.

We all tried to shop online and take naps as well but Emmy kept me up. Soon enough, Brudda and I went to Wal-Mart so that I could get my 10-inch gold Deadpool Funko. He bought the other four variations for me this morning as early birthday presents for the next few birthdays.

Hunan Bistro | Plano, Texas | Le, Aaron, Mellie Dee, SIL

Then it was Thanksgiving at Hunan Bistro. No usual Thanksgiving feast here though we did get some wine. We ordered so much that I am so stuffed. My favourite was the fried intestines. I know you’re probably thinking it’s gross, but it’s all in your head.

Boba Ave 8090 | Plano, Texas | Jenny & Mellie Dee

The kids went next door to Boba Ave 8090 while everyone else went back to their respective homes. We talked about weddings and random things before heading home.

June and I finished our movies and I went and bought more things as Christmas presents. I hope everyone likes theirs!

2019 Mum’s Birthday Celebration

November 24, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Duck & Bao | Katy, Texas

Yesterday we celebrated Mum’s birthday early, on Brudda’s birthday since he wasn’t here. We went to Duck & Bao. This has been on my list forever so I was very excited to try it and it met my expectations.

Well, other than the xiao long bao touching one another on some of them and the soup falling out. This is probably the best soup dumpling I’ve found near me. Lots of soup inside and pretty big sized. They just need to work on putting them further apart so they don’t stick.

Duck & Bao | Katy, Texas | Slippery Xiao Long Baos

June tried so hard not to bust hers she ended up dropping it in my cup of water.

We tried all the different xiao long boas, sea urchin one was my favourite. We even tried the extra-large one where you have to suck the soup out with a straw. It has truffles in it but it wasn’t my favourite one. I will come back here, possibly by myself, because it’s worth it and so close by.

Terry Hershey Park with Edward

Today, I met up with Edward and we took a walk at Terry Hershey Park for a good two and a half hours. We talked about a lot of random things. About life, personal, work, etc. I’ve always wanted to come to this park but never had a chance to so I’m happy I get to check this off my list. It’s way closer than I thought so I’ll probably be back with Rizzo or something one day.

Popeyes Spicy Chicken Sandwiches for the Family

Since I haven’t eaten all day, I stopped by Popeyes and picked up four spicy chicken sandwiches for everyone to try and an 8 piece mild chicken meal for Emmy since she cannot eat spicy yet. They all said it was pretty dang delicious and one even said it was better than Chickfila so … the verdict is in.

Three workdays until the weekend! Luckily, I get to work from home on Wednesday. Hopefully, Emmy won’t realize I’m home so I can work in peace.

Ling Long Dumpling & Noodle House | Houston, Texas

Emmy Giving Rizzo Kisses

I woke up to Emmy giving Rizzo kisses while the sun was shining into his eyes. It was one of the cutest things I’ve seen. He even sat next to her no matter how much she messed with him and he didn’t make a sound. I spent all morning pretty much playing with her and was ready for a nap.

Ling Long Dumping & Noodle House | Houston, Texas

But as we were about to get to that point, Sissy showed up at the house. Mum, Sissy, and I went to the mall and returned so much stuff and bought some earrings before heading to a late lunch at Ling Long Dumpling & Noodle House. We ordered beef noodle soup, chicken dumplings, pork dumplings, veggie dumplings, milk tea, and hot and sour soup. We were stuffed. The place isn’t bad but I’m not sure how long they’ll last as it wasn’t busy as I thought it’d be even after one on a Saturday.

Emmy & Sissy at the Park

We went home and picked up Emmy. We went to a park that had bucket swings so that she could enjoy them. She loved it so much she was practically on it the whole time other than a few times on the slides with Sissy and me. She had an applesauce break too which I found hilarious.

Wingstop To Go

We got Wingstop for dinner. I’ve come to realize I’m not as big of a fan of the wings now that we make our own a lot in our air fryer. The fries and ranch are the reasons why I go. I still can’t get over them even though I’m not a big fry lover now.

It’s almost ten at night and Emmy is still awake, in my room bouncing around with all the energy in the world while I try to wind down. Getting some Hallmark movies in which I heard you can get paid $1000 just for watching if you got chosen. Lucky. I’m too lazy to submit an application.

Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich

November 5, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Rizzo Sleeping While I Work

How cute is this fox?

For everyone who’s checked up on me, I’m still alive! I have actually been sick and actually took days off work. I don’t have the flu but a cold from the weather in Denver.

Rizzo kept me company today while I worked five hours due to scripts failing.

Popeye's Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Five hours later, I left to get my nails done because they were getting a little crazy and my cough was a little less and I figured it’d be okay.

I did make a stop at Popeye’s for their chicken sandwich. I opted for the spicy and I will say it was worth the hype. I actually liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I’d stand back in line for it again in the future. Maybe order the fries and make it a real meal.

If you tell me to compare it to Chick-Fil-A, I don’t know how’d I chose. One of each please.

Rizzo Sleeping With His Favourite Toy

Rizzo with his favourite toy. Just super cute and I wanted to share. No work tomorrow either. It also means I’ve used up all my sick days this year. Sigh, hopefully I get better by Thursday morning so I can get back to work.

Speaking of Thursday, Emmy is coming and staying with us until Thanksgiving. Super excited so this sickness really needs to go away!
