Leadership Challenge Reunion

January 12, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Kolache Factory | San Antonio, Texas

Patricia and I started off the day with kolaches and coffee at Kolache Factory.

The Front Porch Revolution Book Release | Robert H Lengel

We then headed to Bob’s book signing for The Front Porch Revolution Book Release. How fancy is that!

Bob gave a speech and I cried pretty much through it all. He has so much love, passion and wisdom that I want to work harder to make he happy.

The Front Porch Revolution Book Release | Robert H Lengel | Group Pictures

Grateful to have met such wonderful people who all have passion to help others. I cannot wait to take Riley to an Astros game. She is young but have such a great head on her shoulders and that’s all because she has such terrific parents. We need more Rileys.

Jakob | Future Chef

Jakob offered to cook and I was so excited because his foods have looked so dang delicious whenever he posts it.

Jakob's Sous Vide

I was so excited I finally got to try a sous vide. After this chicken I have decided I need one except the plastic is still the main reason I haven’t jumped the gun. It does keep the moisture of the chicken so I guess we shall see.

Jakob | Future Chef | Food

Jakob made so much delicious foods and I happily lended a hand to help out. I cannot wait to get my own kitchen so u can do stuff like this!

Andy, Mellie Dee, Jakob, Patricia

Andy, Patricia and Ricardo came over to eat as well and we played a few rounds of bananagrams. I am officially obsessed with that game. It is so much fun and goes by even faster than Scrabble because you don’t have to wait for someone to put down letters.

Kumori Door Dash

Patricia and I ordered Kimori from Door Dash and Tyler had some as well. It hit the spot since I haven’t had sushi in so long.

Olive Garden Dessert

Tyler came home and surprised us all with desserts from Olive Garden. So much that I’m sure everyone is in a sugar high.

Tomorrow is time to head home. Can I just Uber?

Girl’s Night in San Antonio

January 11, 2019 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

San Antonio Bound with Monkey

I worked a full day and headed off to San Antonio right after. I was so tired and pooped out that the drive was actually not that great especially because it rained the whole time. Coffee didn’t even help and instead just made me want to pee.

Whenever I travel alone I usually bring along a stuffed animal for company. It makes me not as scared. I’m a kid at heart. It’s been tough doing things alone after having someone with you almost 24/7 but I’ve been pushing myself to be independent again.

Taquitos West Ave | San Antonio, Texas

It was almost a four hour drive but I survived! I drove to Patricia’s and we headed to Thuy’s soon after. I haven’t been to her house since the bridal shower and they got a lot of work done on the house. So homey and calming.

We went to Taquitos West Ave. I’ve been wanting to go here the last four times I’ve been in town so I was so excited. They are SO good! I’m told the other location is even better so my goodness I need that next time!

Panaderia West Ave | San Antonio, Texas

We went next door to the Panaderia West Ave, a bakery for some goodies. This one is actually for Patricia’s brother but hey, picture opportunity. I felt bad because germs but she said he wouldn’t mind so …

Thuy, Patricia, Mellie Dee

We stopped for a quick group picture before heading back to Thuy’s house. I’ve realized I don’t have many pictures with Thuy so this is perfect. I love y’all!

Wine at Thuy's

We went back to Thuy’s, gave Vu his food and sat on the couch with our wine. We talked about so many things but mostly about guys and the like. You know, usual girl talk.

I haven’t caught up with Thuy in so long so it was long overdue. Poor Patricia was a trooper for staying up best she could so I could have my hangout time with Thuy. You’re the best, P!

Me and Kieran’s Farewell Happy Hour

January 10, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Breaking Bao Food Truck

We had food trucks at work today! I was told we get to every Tuesday and Thursday which is pretty cool.

Breaking Bao Food Truck | Pork and Fried Chicken Bao

I got the combo of two baos and fries. I got the fried chicken and the pork belly. Both equally delicious.

Kieran and Melissa Farewell Party

I left work a little early and called an Uber for a ride to El Big Bad. Kieran was already there and soon enough everyone started flowing in. I was glad Priscilla was able to make it.

Frank's Pizza

After people started leaving Kieran, his girlfriend, some guy from work, Salim, Priscilla and I went next door to Frank’s for pizza. It was nice being a smaller crowd so we could catch up. Soon enough it was time to go home and Salim was nice enough to offer me a ride back to my sister’s so I didn’t have to be in some creepy guys car. We had to walk back to his car though but I didn’t mind as that was probably the last time I was going to walk through downtown like that.

It’s so early and I’m so tired I’m calling it a night. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.

First Day at My Old Company

January 9, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Houston Sunrise

I finally got to see the sunrise. It’s the first time in a long time. Traffic had already built but I’m hoping going in earlier will help. Even with the traffic going home wasn’t bad. Thank goodness.

Lunch with Angie and Erin | Fried Chicken

I said hi to some of my old coworkers and holding off on others until my account sets up. My official start date is the 21st so I’m just cruising in early to get a hold of everything.

I was able to grab lunch with Angie and Erin and catch up which was nice. It’s back to lunches at my desk though so we shall see how that goes.

I am pooped and I know I’ll be tired tomorrow night but I have high hopes it’s going to be fun and worth it. Tomorrow night is me and Kieran’s joint farewell happy hour. It’s going to be the last time I see everyone from my previous job. I have low expectations since I was only there for eight months but I do hope I made some lasting friendships.

Last Day of Work

January 8, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Mellie Dee Last Day at Work

My last day of work face. Noah says I look cross-eyed. Darn lazy eye.

Work went by super fast. I spent it updating work instructions, making sure the auto download works on the server, have meetings and one with the vendors, and the such. It was definitely one of the busiest days I’ve ever had there.

Doozo and Switch with Noah, Kieran, Salim

It was lunchtime before I knew it and Noah walked with me to Doozo. I wanted Treebeards but they were busy and I was lazy to wait.

We brought our food back to the kitchen and I received a message. Soon Noah and I were in a room with Kieran and Salim eating lunch and playing the switch!

Even that went by so fast that soon enough I was walking out the door. Sad to leave because the people there are amazing but happy because a new chapter is to begin.

I went and got my nails done because I obviously need to make a good first impression at my new job tomorrow. I am so tired and cannot wait to go to bed. And the way shorter commute is going to be so sweet.
