I started off the week by taking off a couple of hours early on Monday. I met up with Frankenstein at La Centerra. We walked around to different shops and ended up at Bar Louie. Drinks and apps before heading home since Emmy had Kumon online. We had gone to a spice and tea shop and I bought some pretty awesome blueberry black tea leaves.
After work Wednesday, Mallory and I donated blood. Her neighborhood was having a blood drive with a Star Wars themed shirt giveaway. She ALWAYS finishes before me no matter what order we go in.
I stopped by Tacos El Grande since it was Cinco de Mayo for some tacos with consume. It wasn’t bad but I think I would like it better if the consume was a little thicker so that it could adhere to the taco better. I know, I know, that’s now how it’s suppose to be, but it’s how I’d prefer it.
Thursday, I took off a couple of hours early again and took Emmy on a playdate with JJ at Mary Jo Peckham park. Emmy walked too close to the edge and ended up having a wet shoe/sock. Luckily she didn’t freak out too much. They liked messing with the ducks so much we had to leave. We went over to Mallory’s where we played on the playset and had popsicles. She met some of JJ’s friends and wouldn’t top talking about it when we got home.
Friday, I took Emmy to Dewberry Farms. We met up with Mallory, JJ, Jacob, Beth and Connor. We did SO many activities that I was pooped. I cannot wait for Connor to be more grown so that they could all play together and maybe I’ll bring Ethan as well in the future.
It was sad since it was the last time they’d see each other since Emmy was leaving. Their conversation was the cutest. It went something along the lines of:
Emmy: I have to go back to Dallas.
JJ: Why do you live so far?
Emmy: We need to move closer
JJ: Next time I see you I’m going to slap it (slime Mallory bought) on your face.
Emmy: OK! Hold my hand.
JJ: Come back soon.
And then they proceeded to be sad. They hugged goodbye and did a group hug with Mallory at the end. It was the cutest. Mallory, Beth and I all got matching Dewberry Farm shirts as well. Can’t wait to be matchy matchy with them!
After we got home, Emmy took a nap and Brudda, SIL, and Jenny arrived from Dallas. We went to Hobby Lobby and got some Freddy’s. We stopped by Petland as well and played with THE cutest goldendoodle. He kept eating Emmy’s dress and although it’s bad, it was the cutest!
Saturday, we stopped by Grandma’s to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day, then headed over to Katrina’s birthday party. It was a small party but it was nice to be in a house full of family again.
Parents got us 2 GIANT bags of crawfish. There were A LOT of leftovers. This is the first time our family were all in the same house eating together at the same table. It’s also the first time in a long time that everyone chipped in to help. I’ve mastered the Viet Cajun sauce and am estatic that everyone loved it. I think it’s too salty so there’s still tweaking but overall, it was a BIG hit. BIL even took some home!
I’ve always wanted a cute cake to celebrate my birthday so I was very happy to see a unicorn ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins. Definitely not the norm and it made Emmy and I VERY happy. Glad to have everyone together with me. I am blessed.
Jenny and I don’t have much one on one time together since we graduated so it was nice that she came and stayed a few days and even celebrated my birthday with me. We were able to catch up and we did some bachelorette planning with SIL.
Ethan and Emmy left this morning. I’m sad. The house is so quiet but they’ll be back in June! Rizzo hasn’t had much sleep since they’ve came so he’s been sleeping A LOT. He’s knocked out as I’m typing this.
After they left, I grabbed Starbucks and met up with Frankenstein. We went to Kemah Boardwalk – such perfect weather. We walked to various stores and we played some arcade games again. We got matching bracelets. The two coins were worth 10 tickets but we (I) decided to keep them because memories.
It rained for a little bit but we made shelter inside the Aquarium where we went to feed the stingrays. We both chickened out after one and gave the rest to the kids next to us. We just petted one instead and called it a day. We then had a late lunch at Bakkhus, a Greek restaurant. Their lamb shank and grits were freaking amazing. I wouldn’t mind going back for that. Then we walked around the lighthouse area before heading back and calling it a day.
It’s been a very eventful week and weekend. I’m tired but the memories will stay with me forever and totally worth it.
